It's not a matter of layout or anything. I've played it on an HTC Eris and an HTC Wildfire S, and both phones have a limit on how many times you can take one finger off the screen while using two fingers before it stops registering new hits. In short, that meant I couldn't do things like dash-jump off of walls or shoot while moving. Also, both phones had only power and volume hardware buttons.
