Because you're blind. It was at the top of one of the underground tunnels. You exit, and there's a tank sitting on your left.

If I remember correctly, there were 2 tanks.

Yase, right before the end. The only thing that made it bullshit is that CMT put fuck all armour on any of their vehicles (especially the Banshee, which made Two Betrayals VERY aggravating...please fix), so you would explode very quickly on difficulties as low as Normal.
