I think it would look a lot better if he pushed the lid down with his hand. Like, that motion you have him using now... I don't think that would actually work. As for the plasma rifle... you might have to do some significant edits to the model and unwrap, but i would have him open the top like CMT's needler, and put in a bigger blue plasma thingie. You could probably use the model you have for that plasma pistol, just scale it up.

What happens if your battery runs out, and you got a few spare around? You reload, I think that's the point of the ammo.
