The Zaïre virus, formerly named Zaïre Ebola Virus, has the highest case-fatality rate, up to 90% in some epidemics, with an average case fatality rate of approximately 83% over 27 years. The case-fatality rates were 88% in 1976, 59% in 1994, 81% in 1995, 73% in 1996, 80% in 2001-2002, and 90% in 2003. There have been more outbreaks of Zaïre ebolavirus than any other strain.

I disagree strongly. Where are you getting your evidence that its no weaker or stronger? Have you experienced it? I haven't heard any reports either way. And the big problem isn't that its stronger or weaker, its that its new. The strain of small pox brought by the Spanish to the Americas wasn't any weaker or stronger than any other strain, but it still caused massive death tolls. In the end it doesn't matter how 'strong' it is what matters is that its new.

ding ding ding, we have a winner!
Re: Ron Paul: Virus? what virus
I disagree. The reason the small pox brought by the Spaniards killed such large numbers is because they had never encountered any previous strain of the virus so the immune system had no idea what to do with the virus as with any new virus. However, this virus isn't *completely* new. Its just a mutated strand of the Flu meaning it has be encountered but not this particular strand yet. Our bodies will recognize parts of the DNA of it but it is still lethal none the less considering there are some parts we have never encountered before.

They arnt calling it the swine flu because the name has sex appeal.
