He is doing the resolution thing trough DirectX Hooks I think. I'm pretty sure there is a program/source out there that does it already. Or maybe he inititiates it internally...I don't know.
The FoV...if you know how to use CheatEngine or any other memory scanning application...it's quite easy. Ever wondered how the sniper zooms? Well there you have it.
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but it should melt your graphics card if you try to use it in multiplayer >:U
Seriously though... it can't be that hard to code it to not work in multiplayer can it?
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
Why would a "dev"trainer melt your graphics card?
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
It wouldn't, that was an attempt at humor
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
Oh heh =(
Well, if I remember, coding it into multiplayer might be hard if it didn't already exist in multiplayer...
Bah I don't know, but I think it was something like that.
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
Correct me if i am wrong on this but, could this program also be used as a hack in multiplayer?
We all know how bad the aimbot was in CE, still is to this day. What would happen if this somehow got released and became a whole new way to cheat? By 'whole new' i mean a way to cheat in H2v. If there is a way to hard code, or prevent this program from being used online, then thats great release it for singleplayer. However if there is some way to make this or modify it to work for multiplayer, i would seriously tell him to stop what he is doing.
I am not sure on how the aimbot came into CE so correct me if i am wrong. I would assume that it was going to be used for good intentions, but somehow slipped out. And that one little leak turned into a fucking flood of hackers, aimboters i should say. Catch my drift? If this program somehow got put into the wrong hands unreleased, we all know what would happen. And truth be told i am sure 99% of us would not want to see that happen.
I am against this program being released, strongly. Unless it can be hard coded not to work online. Or some other means.
I don't like this at all, in my eyes it is simply not worth the risk just for some silly super-power ups that could turn against us. By that i mean could become a online hack. I doubt that even if we where against it that it would make him stop and not release the program. Let us hope that this program is going to be used for good intentions and finished as so.
I hope this guy knows what he is doing, and what can happen if he screws up.

Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
Well the last time I checked the difference between a trainer and a hack was that a trainer was made solely with singleplayer in mind while a hack was not, the hacker would usually not care less about singleplayer...
And Paulus' DevTrainer for Halo 1 didn't work in multiplayer, sure you could turn the options on, but they only screwed the game up for the one trying to use them. The only way to get it to work was to Have everyone turn it on.
Sure I get it, this is H2V and LIVE, but still it wouldn't be that hard to make sure it's unusable in multiplayer.
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
Halo 2's net-code is different from Halo's net-code though. Or are they the same?
Even still, i wouldn't want to take the chance of it somehow happening. Not that i have any say in the matter, just my opinion.

Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
If I'm not mistaken, H2V\LIVE knows when its being fucked with. Because when bitter and I were messing with the Believe mod, it would let me go to the network screen (for lan) but would do nothing when I tried to click 'create new game'. Then when I tried to go on LIVE, the actual game crashed. And yes I tried it multiple times, and no we weren't modifying anything that would cause that to happen. And yes, this occured on my Vista machine AND bitter's XP machine. And of course, once you change something when running it on Vista, it will catch that change after a while and exit the game (which is why we had no plans to release it). And I'm pretty sure hes replacing the DX dll if hes doing it for both XP and Vista.
His 'hack' won't work for future versions of H2V, only the one hes making it for.
EDIT: now that zeph mentions it, that kinda makes me want to dust off YeloCE's source and add the infection game engine...
But then I remember I bought halo3 *plays*
Re: H2V DevTrainer by Paulus in the making!
^Good enough for me.
I take back my 'against' toward the program.
Good luck to Paulus.
