All of my friends play some kind of an instrument and you start to analyze the music in a different way. Megadave is just Dave Mustaine, Metallica has 3 good songs and the worst drummer of all time :P
Yeah, I'm a guitar player. And yes, MegaDave is what it is. Doesn't take away from how great he is as a player and how successful he's been by himself. Fuck, they are STILL shitting out records every 2-3 years and all of them have good songs on them.
As far as Metallica goes, I am a huge fan boy. I'm not going to get into why, I just identify with their sound and approach.
Not really a big time Metalcore guy. The growling thing never got my interest, and I don't like break downs all that much. Lamb of God and God Forbid are really fucking cool, but the rest isn't all that great IMO.

Yeah I agree. Honestly, metal has become very confined these days. It seems like unless you're a legendary act, or a band with universal appeal (Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed), you won't get much attention from any non musician types.
Been hearing this on the radio alot. Great classic rock.

Well a general tendency over here is to listen to metal music which is not commercial (going to a friends house, there is a big chance I don't know 80% of the bands he listens to). I am a big fan of Disturbed, but I don't know anyone listening to A7X and the like. I like some American Bands (As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Disturbed...) or Canadian (The Agonist) but most of the bands people listen over here are from Scandinavia, Germany, Italy etc.
It's not only Metal either, there is a big scene dark scene, industrial, goa etc. ^^

Fair enough, here in the states the underground is more on a local basis. Maybe it's because the population is so spread out, so there isn't nearly the kind of network that there is in Europe.

In my opinion, Suicidal Tendencies are a very underrated band. Sure, they have that one song that everybody knows, but a lot of their other stuff is good too. Since the 1990s they've been pretty hit or miss for me, but I still love them. Here are my favorite songs that aren't Institutionalized:
"For people who are wondering what this series is called, its called Call of Halo: Future Warfare 5 and its an RPG game based off of George Lopez."

If you're looking for a really tremendous live show with incredible production, look no further than Operation: Livecrime, a live playthrough by Queensrÿche of their excellent 1988 album, Operation: Mindcrime, a concept album about conspiracies. I can't really get into any more detail without spoiling the story. If you have an hour to spend, definitely watch this show. It's amazing, and once you start watching you won't be able to stop.
This is in my opinion better than the studio version of the album, due to the added visual scenes and the energy of the live crowd.

Seen it. I hate Queensryche, so that kind of killed it for me. Still a very cool show though.
New music video by one of my favorites. Again, those who listen to sreamo shit wont like it. Otherwise, pretty epic

Premiered on MTV yesterday. Green Day has always been another one of my favorites. The song is off an album called Uno! which is 1 of a 3 album set, this one is supposed to be to more less instruments- more voice.

Megalith is one of the greatest video game missions of all time. ESPECIALLY with the story attached to it.

Re: General music thread
I haven't had a chance to play any Ace Combat other than 4 (demos aside). I still look back to that game in terms of storytelling. It's one of those "one man pushed a button to make it all possible" stories I hate, but the fact that this button pushing pilot spawned three side stories, and of which he was only vaguely aware of one (mobeus squad), just blew my mind.
Did the future Ace Combats actually do a decent job or were they doomed to gimmick gameplay mechanics?

Re: General music thread
Ace Combat Assault Horizon was the only one doomed to Gimmick gameplay mechanics. The entire game is a complete load of garbage and a waste of time.
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, and Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, were absolutely stellar games. AC5 and AC0 remain my absolute favorites, AC6 is right behind them though. Still AC4 has a very special place in my heart, right next to AC3. I'm hoping future AC games make up for what AH did to the series.

This song and mission are essentially the namesake of my monicker "AVALON" that I've been using as of late.
If anyone reading this has never play or played much of Ace Combat, I recommend you do so, you won't regret it. Its an absolutely amazing series.

More Code Geass OST:
I know I've posted some of them before, but this is a series that I believe if it didn't have the music it had I'd probably not enjoy it. The music is just top-notch. If you haven't watched it, you really need too. I recommend the Dub over the Sub to be honest, mainly because they fix a lot of unintentional video flaws from the original Japanese release. But if you want to watch the sub, the music is still great. Definitely give it a go if you haven't already.
Libera me from Hell is probably the greatest piece of music to come from Jap TV.

I'd say from Anime really. I'd also go as far as saying it's the best piece of music with Lyrics from Anime as well. Scores and Orchestras are debatable though. Most Lyrics you'll find are in English. Either way, it's a fucking great piece of work.

Limp Bizkit played a really good set at Woodstock 1999, including "Break Stuff" where Fred Durst pretty much singlehandedly instigated a riot. Watching the fans surf around on giant plywood sheets ripped off the security barriers is great. Also, the closing song, "Faith," was performed really well, the crowd was super into it, and Fred singing on the plywood held aloft by fans was a really good visual. Killer end to a really great set.
I definitely recommend checking out the complete Limp Bizkit, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jewel sets from Woodstock 1999. Red Hot Chili Peppers playing Jimi Hendrix's "Fire" while several large bonfires burn amongst the crowd is a really great thing to take in.

if you dont believe mustaine is a dick then your deluded, and he's had a monumental effect on heavy metal.
Yeah, but I love just about everything Mustaine has done. Limp Bizkit doesn't do it for me. Thus I feel the need to insult those who like things I don't like to feel better about my whimpish fanboyism.

Whether you like the show or not, Code Geass still has an amazing OST.
Final Fantasy Dissidia and Duodecim both have fantastic OSTs.
At least those last two didn't have any random unintelligible screaming in them like the shit m00kz posted. That literally is the vocal equivalent of someone dragging their nails across a chalkboard. No idea how people find it to be entertaining.
