One of the biggest thing that bothered me in Halo 2 was that it didn't feel complete. It felt rushed, because it was. Take your time, please.
you compile scripts with Sapien... HMT doesn't support scripting.... or Halo CE without hex editing.

No, no no no no never HMT with CE. You use a .hsc file in your tags\levels\mapname\scripts folder.
Even the suckiest videocards have wraiths and ghosts as purple, the diffuse is purple.
On a completely different, more ontopic note: I seriously hope you're going to animate the scarab instead of putting AI in it. Halo 3's scarab vehicle was great for AI, but that scarab from extinction (I don't know if your scarab is completely new or a revamp of extinction's) had stupid walking animations.
Will you have a preset path like Halo 2?

but in the ON topic discussion about the scarab, if it is going to be scripted scenery, will it be destroyable? i think it would be really cool to have a scarab running around on AOTCR and maybe have a longsword drop and bomb it. and if you do that, maybe a blue screenflashing damage effect or lense flare or something? that would make it like h3's explosion (maybe, im no effects master)
if you make it driven by AI, it would kind of be sad to watch it bump into walls and shit
Well they are having the POA crash but then again this raises the question......where would the Longsword come from? I mean the POA was the only ship there and its kinda ruined yah know.
plus, there's little room to fly a LS in those canyons, let along a scarab.

Yeah, Longsword bombings only occur when defending Earth cities. The humans aren't attacking Halo, they just happened to land on it. (go watch the Halo 2 Demo from E3 2004, instead of a scarab, it was a giant scarab turret that got bombed by two Longswords and got destroyed in a big esplozion!)

You can get the banshee twice that I know of in assault on the control room, and have one pretty much through most of two betrayals. I highly prefer the use of the banshee in Halo 1 to the set piece encounters in Halo 2 where you pretty much were forced to use it. Besides, banshee fights in Halo 2 SP are boring.

sounds pretty usefull, can lay down surpression fire while flying in, and then drop off troops, and then lay down some more surpression fire.
By plasma? The guns on the banshee are accurate yes, but like most covenant weapons, as slow as hell. There's no way you can get accuratly hit by a banshee from that distance, let alone killed in a second and a half. Also, modern weapons nearly always fire straight, inaccuracy is usually based on the fact that people can't aim their weapon at the target during sustain fire, however, on a machine, you don't need to worry about recoil effecting accuracy, seeing as the machine will keep it straight on every shot. So technically, the guns on the banshee and ghost in H2 & 3 are more realistic than the guns in H1.

Now, in a way your right. We don't know how covenant weapons work, however, it still needs to be propelled a far distance at high speed, at a high temperature. The above model would have a very small recoil, however, to get all of the above you would likely need a very strong driving force. This would easily be generated by an explosion, and is likely the most efficient way. So the above model is possible, but if your trying to get an energy efficient weapon, not a good idea.
However, an explosion would generate a back blast, and would have recoil. So the all of the heated plasma would be pushed into that electric thingamabober, current would be sent through that, causing an explosion which would propel the plasma in any given direction.

However, there is no barrel on the weapon, and the fact that an explosion would propel the plasma in a random direction. So this also doesn't make much of a weapon seeing as rounds are flying everywhere. That is unless the covenant have some kind of way to stop that.
Now, here is the most plausible explanation. Magnetic fields. Plasma can be contained in a magnetic field, and would be much more accurate. The blue thingamabober at the end of the gun could likely have a negative field preventing the bolt from going up, down, backwards or sideways. Instead the bold would have no option but to go forward, and depending on how strong the field is, it would go at an appalling rate. Like this.

The velocity wouldn't change anything, the shots would be grouped together yes, but would all go straight. The only thing that would change that would be weather conditions, and objects moving at that speed wouldn't be that effected.Quote:

flamehog is fun, except you really can't use it facing forward in a moving vehicle. It's also not good for SP, because you either need an AI driver or an AI gunner. Neither are preferable.
if the flame went in an arc it would be much more useful; so much that when firing ahead you could clear the hog

If you just barely escape setting yourself on fire just by igniting the vehicle's immediate path with a straight-firing trajectory, how the fuck would having the projectile dip back to the ground make it safer? Crackheads. >_>
well, this might not sound wise, but couldnt you just copy the flame projectile and damage effect and make the flame shot by the hog not damage metal? that way it could still strike the hog but not damage the drivers. im not 100% certain that would work though, because the flames could still touch the driver or passenger(but would that damage them? being inside the hog might allow this to work), and it would be annoying not to be able to damage other vehicles

It is. It's the little things that can drive you away from the main purpose of the thread. That's how a good conversation between people goes.
you're still talking like plasma would be affected by atmospheric conditions the same exact way as plasma. The word plasma is used for a lot of different things even here in the real world, you have no idea how it would be affected by friction or wind, and the velocity of a vehicle is sure as hell going to have an affect on the trajectory of something fired from it. Not to mention in The Arbiter the banshee is flying through the atmosphere of a gas giant.
And I doubt you beat it.
If you're having it fire over the hog, you could drastically increase the range, so that blobs land well away from the warthog's immediate area. (You'd probably have to tweak damage and whatnot, of course, to keep it balanced)
A flame hog would only work effectively on flat ground. If there are small hills then the flames would engulf the hog.
Hmm... Perhaps make the flames longer? That way, the flames would fly over the driver's head and in front of the hog, killing anything the driver was about to splatter (Heh heh), but not hurting the passenger or driver.
