Beautiful stuff, man. Makes me want to go visit.
That tree reminds me of British Columbia. Lovely pics man.
Beautimus. Especially the last one.
Damn dude, those are gorgeous. The timelapse one of the tree and the stars is especially trippy to scroll past.
I'm going to move to New Zealand damnit.
You should, i'm not leaving any time soon c:
Do you have that last one in 5760x1200 or larger variety?
Best I can do:
Hey Timo, do you have a slightly larger version of this one?
http://timo.modacity.net/pix/2010/mi...Queenstown.jpg
I see you have another version that has more stuff on the left, but the height is less. I'm trying to get something that is like 4480x1080, or larger if possible. :)
Nope that's as wide as it gets i'm afraid.
How does the top one have a height of 1080, then? Is it just stretched, or was the 1000px high one just scaled down a little?
They've both been scaled down, the original height will be around 2400 pixels. Once I have time i'll recompile the panorama and try and get a 4480x1080 that still looks decent.
I now have 2 new desktop images. That panorama is so wide they look totally different from each other.
Timo, I love you. Absolutely amazing shots.
Thanks, I love taking them
I seriously need a matching dual monitor setup so I can use some of these as wallpapers too :c
Yeah. You should start uploading them to interfacelift.com for schmucks like us.
Madness :D Its going to be 27 degrees here tomorrow and you have snow :D Made a snowman yet?
Christmas in July, bitches.
Aren't seasons essentially reversed in the southern hemisphere?
Can I get this one a little bigger (1920x1080) please? http://timo.modacity.net/pix/2011/catlinstrip/3.jpg
@TeeKup: Yes.
Well all the snow turned to ice overnight, turns out biking on ice is not nearly as fun as biking on snow D:
@Teekup: they sure are, nothing quite like Christmas on the beach in 30C weather.
@Corndogman: http://i.imgur.com/jESTk.jpg enjoy!
Thanks dude.

I really like those pictures of the dam. Your capture of nature is breathtaking, but your capture of industry is captivating.
That dam is a fucking fortress.
is that where the earthquakes come from :ohdear:
good pic
Wow, makes me want to move to the south island. The only real good thing about the north island is the beaches, South islands got Mountains, Snow and Fiordland D:
Is this the island up near Taupo Bay??

If not then holy shit it has a twin, http://www.eske-style.co.nz/areas/fa...w_taupobay.asp
Beautiful pics, as always
I think so.
Thanks
The biggest downside to the South Island are the straight roads, so bloody boring to get anywhere. Miss having to drive through a few gorges to get anywhere :(. And it is, damn that's an old photo!
Ew, and I just noticed how gross the jpeg compression is in that photo. I'll re-upload it soon
Good fuck I want to live in your country.
Because who doesn't love panoramas?

You really should.
e: NZ's gay marriage bill just passed it's first reading through parliment at a vote of 78-40, if that helps
is there a program that loops 360 panned images together, so you can seemlessly spin right around?
Yeah there's a few around, i'd have to upload it to my website to get it to work though (like these ones here: http://timo.modacity.net/Panoramas/). I'm not aware of any image hosting services that do it.
Went snowboarding on my birthday, was awesome (not me in the pic). The lake behind him is the same lake you can see if the previous photos, which were taken from the hill that is above his head. The alluvial fan at the base of this photo is just below the tiny island in the middle of the lake!
Jealous as f*ck, been wanting to get to a Ski field to get some snowboarding done all semester but its just so insanely expensive for a student. Itll end up costing me about 160 bux just for a day and thats even with my own gear. :S
What are the ski fields down there like atm? apparently Mt Ruapahu's been the best its been in a while.
Damn, a solid day up porters is $50 if you've got a student ID. That's midweek though, i'm not too sure about weekends. They're running out of snow pretty fast unfortunately. Gutted I didn't go up sooner, but glad I have before the season ends. Carpooling meant it only cost each of us $10 to drive there and back too^^
Thats so cheap! Damn, may have to move south after if finish my course.
You really should. The south is definitely the better half!

Looks to be a rock.

Timo, I've missed you and your beautiful photos.
Timo, your photography has now made it into yet another one of my backgrounds. I'm still using one you made on my laptop, i believe.
You are a fantastic landscape photographer.
Thanks guys c:
They all look amazing!
Hey Team.
Just finished up a 3 day hike through the high country in Arthur's Pass (Cass Saddle through to Lagoon Saddle).
-Wish I brought bacon with me
-Wish I brought a lens hood
-Wish the fucking gorillapod I brought had a screw thread diameter the same size as my camera and every other under the sun.
really like the third one. looks refreshing haha. did you go up to that double waterfall in the 4th pic that looks like it might be kinda neat??
That second pic is beautiful. Looks awesome!

These are all so cool.
So I just had a revelation based on looking at one of your pics. I was going back to pick desktop wallpapers, and noticed the blue hills in the distance in this picture:
http://s0.uploads.im/N4PmH.jpg
A year or so ago, when a friend and I color corrected the Extended Blu Ray of Fellowship of the Ring (for some reason that one is green on the release, but the other two are fine, no clue why), we found that the hills had turned from a "natural" looking brown/green to a strange neon blue-teal. We played with the settings but the hills seemed to be happy to stay that shade. I had given it up as a problem caused when they did the original green tint, but now I know that's actually how hills and mountains in New Zealand look! I wonder if it's an atmospheric thing, or a type of vegetation? Looks like it starts the farther back the hills get, so my guess is atmospheric. Either way, thanks for the accidental proof!
It's atmospheric. Things fade the further away they get since there is a greater amount of stuff in the air to scatter the light, and it looks blue for the same reason the sky is blue. The teal you see comes from the fact that the trees are green...and the green is combining with the blue of the atmosphere.
As warsaw said it's definitely atmospheric - it's usually a light blue haze but sometimes after heavy rainfall it is much blue-er than usual. The sea just out of frame to the right was calm as well so there was little sea spray.
That's pretty cool, I'm of course familiar with typical atmospheric haze, but I've never seen that hue before, it's quite pretty.
I've probably also exaggerated it a bit more than you'd normally see, but it's definitely noticeable to the naked eye.
