love my giant fortress on top a mountain, easy to get to and the only mobs that spawn are sheep.

built this over the course of a few hours,already had the wood for the flooring inside, there is also a mineshaft i started close to the chests seen in the 2nd pic, it goes from like close to the top of the mountain down to the bedrock

How did you get the smooth stone for your fortress? Did you carve it out of the mountain?

roof is made with the hell stone that burns forever and the smooth stone is made by putting cobble in a furnace, my mine about a few blocks down became a blast shaft so obtaining cobblestone wasn't hard (but fall from the top of the spiral to the bottom and its insta death

You can stick cobblestone in a furnace to get normal stone. Kind of a pain, but cobblestone looks like ass.

(since I'm too lazy to change it, the normal stone in the texture pack I'm using also looks like ass, but I'm not using it much anymore, so..)

Edit: I was digging around and found a cave... That led into another cave. Dug around some more and got flooded by a MASSIVE waterfall, which I swam up and dug my way out... those caves were large enough to take me from the bottom of the level up to the surface. I was surprised, to say the least.
