@Mooks: You can also generatethat one stone typeobsidian by placing Lava inside water.
@ Plague: You spent like 4 minutes talking about the options menu. Blech. Also if you have like 20 logs in there for wood, you can right click on the wood and it will just add them together. Try it.
Alright. Would these seem useful at all to anyone, or should I quit before I get ahead?
Lava doesn't work like water, in that you can't place two lava blocks two spaces apart and expect the middle space to become filled with lava. There's a finite amount in each map section. However, there's a whole bunch of lava in the Nether, and it'll generate more as you explore further, so theoretically, you can get an infinite amount.
Also, the method of generating Obsidian is to have water flow over a lava block. You can get up to seven at a time I believe.

I haven't had the nerve to explore the nether yet, the screams freak me out
