Didnt preorder.
Yes I know im crazy as fuck, but im banking on the fact someone will purchase a copy for me. If not, ill buy it wednesday. I wont have anytime to play tonight or tomorrow so it doesnt matter either way.
i haven't preordered either, but since most of my immediate area is made up of rednecks, I'm sure the local store won't be sold out on launch day. I'm getting it tomorrow night after school.
I'm getting my copy tomorrow morning after my programming class (which finishes at 10:00). I would then play all day, but I have a linear algebra lecture from 1:00 to 2:30 :/
And yes, I pre-ordered and completely payed for my limited Edition :)
I still got about 17 hours here in PST.
Despite the fact that I already have the game.
cant make it to the midnight release, but since the gamestop i go to rarely has people its safe to say i wont see much of anyone @ 10am tuesday morning
Been playing for the last couple of hours and my FPS seems to be taking a dump every now and then (campaign). Pretty lame :\
Hopefully the API is up when I get home. Gives me something to do for the 9 hour wait.
I did the midnight launch for Halo 2 and 3, but now I have too much work and school to worry about. Probably won't be playing much until Sunday. :(
I'd be studying for tests at the moment if it wasn't for the earthquake :3
If anyone is up for some COOP games later this week, hit me up @ mechwarrior1234
Anyone up for Firefight? GT: Limited55
7 More hours Till I get it :D
I'm headed to the midnight myself. I don't have class until Wednesday again, I've only got classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so I can afford to go to it tonight. Add to it that I haven't been able to sleep at night since I started playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and it means I need to go to this midnight launch to have something asap to take my mind off things. Should be fun though.
Played for 5 hours solid on Heroic and still haven't finished. Pretty fun, can't wait to try out multiplayer tomorrow :3
3 hours till I head out to get it , then wait for 1 hour in line :D, then spend all night on it, talk about win
I'm doing the same :p Heading out about Half 10, my local store is hosting a firefight competition in Reach and the customer with the highest score by over the games gets a limited edition free.
Should be home by 12:30 and sinking into the campaign, I'm extremely excited haha! The three other guys coming with me are much less excited which makes me sad face... I bet they'll be shaking with excitement when we're there.
I noticed you had it already - LUCKY! :D
Changed my going out time, gonna meet up with friends in another hour :D, I have a hell load to carry home Legendary and Console O.O, Then Campaign all night long :D , its like freaking xmas all over again.
I will be leaving at 11 to get mine!
Did anyone see the Spartans at Trafalgar Square?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...me.html?ref=nf
Man I wish I lived closer to london I so would have gone to see that! haha!
And the British are taking over this thread... British Halo Reach - Now with more BRITISHNESS.... actually no! I like my multi-cultural Noble Team...if they were all British it would sound like...<insert bad British action movie here> so that isn't good.
Ill be at Redmond Town Centre hitting it up with a bunch of Bungie employees for the launch.
I have to wait another 23 hours due to school. I don't deal with mid-night releases so I got it online and get it tomorrow.
Here is how I'm gonna play...Campaign, Firefight, Forge, Multiplayer. But I need to re-add a bunch of people cause I got my account hacked, I'm so pro pissing off halo 3 kiddies :realsmug:
Getting the game at midnight, installing to hdd, 1 game of btb, sleep, school, REACH REACH REACH
School, Eye Doctor's appointment, Senior Project meeting at my school, and then Reach until 2:00 AM. My friends are Guinea Pigs for a tournament I'm hosting next year, so I hope the extra gametypes I have in mind work pretty well.
Reach Schedule:
1.) Forge
2.) First half of Campaign
3.) Multiplayer
My god I've been downloading Halo Waypoint for the past like 2 hours. Its only 163mb, but its going at 12kbps...Gah! 91%.
Why the heck cant they allow offline forge mode or offline firefight to be played, whilst I download Halo Waypoint? I'm sat here, staring at my Reach box, wanting to play it but also wanting Waypoint installed.
Boom, Reach is released in the UK
7 more hours for us PST people...
3 hours 54 minutes EST. Dah the waiting will be daunting since I have to sit in school like I did with Halo3 3 years ago.
Holograms are REALLY useful in campaign, especially against shade turrets.
Just finished it - neat game but nothing really to write home about.
I'm assuming you mean campaign? Also, you might want to spoiler it for people who don't impressions before playing. We all don't live in the UK or New Zealand and can play the game now can we?
@Limited: I saw the new turrets. They scare me.
Either way, how does the Falcon play? Any correlation to how the hornet does, subtract the weapons?
Just had probably my best game so far, 24 kills, 2 deaths in Team Slayer. +22 KD. Running riot :D
Fuck, I have marching band practice afterschool till 8:15 tomorrow, so I'm not going to get to play it till late tomorrow night. :(
Installing to HDD now :)
I still got ~25 hours to go before i get mine, but PST users don't get to buy theirs for another 3 hours.
I'm not going to lie, multiplayer is fucking sick. No whiny kids yet ^_^
EST got the game now, and as time slowly sweeps through the US's timezones, more and more kids will fill multiplayer.
Wow, the population jumped from 30,000 to 100,000 during a single game of invasion. Done for the night.
The new way to join mates is pretty neat. Lets you see their games' current score, the score to win and time remaining for the game they're in. When their game ends you automatically join them.
got a copy tonight, picking up another copy tomorrow when I wake up
gonna work on Hang Em High tonight for a while before I pass out... gonna be getting six hours of sleep at this point woooo
Why do spartans sound like rapists raping when they sprint?
Ive tried sleeping and have gotten none. I work tonight 8 pm to close...gonna suck with no energy.
Besides Reach coming out, Windows ME turns 10 today
I'm getting my copy in 2 hours! I'm so excited! Man, this is going to be the longest uni lecture ever...of all time...
Does anyone know the requirement to unlock the Mark V helmet?
130,000 cR
Ill go pick up a copy when best buy opens in an hour or so. Going to try and not play it till wednesday or thursday tho, too much homework to do and I really dont wanna screw myself over in my classes :X
Ok, so when are we gonna get the Reach subforum? Hop to it, mods.
Been playing for about 7 hours now.
Multiplayer is awesome.
Even more awesome when I learned how to use Armor Lock properly!
btw
GT- Revenant133711 if you wanna do Firefight or multiplayer sometime this week.
Wow, I was up till 6am playing...>_>. Just woke up 2 hours ago, its now like 5pm.
So badly want Warrant Officer rank, only 2k credit to go.
I've been playing for 12 hours straight now, and I'm not going to stop till I pass out tonight so I can go to class tomorrow. Anyway, I'm almost a Warrant Officer, I wonder when I start seeing more gear unlock for my Spartan, probably not till after Major I'm guessing.
Got the game as soon as gamestop opened :v
Sabre parts were too easy, I played it on heroic and it wasnt even a challenge, then again I have played a few of flying combat games.
You may be singing a different tune on legendary...
Reach server unavailable at this time, anyone else receiving this message?
I had a friend earlier IM me about issues, not sure of the current status
I got that same message about 2 hours ago. Then I had to leave for class. I thought my connection was just bad, but it seems everyone's down. I'm gonna go back online and see if its been solved.
Love playing online and newbs ask me how I got my CE nameplate. :)
I found the atmosphere and background events very nice.
However, overall, the campaign on heroic, is frustratingly difficult at times. Combine that with awkward checkpoints and it kinda ruined the campaign for me at times.
There was also not really a typical Halo mission, this is a different type of "Halo" game then what I've played before...instead of going back to it's roots it's gona on the ODST highway again.
That said I liked the story and I love Forge World!
I still need my real account with all those flairs I have on it. Damn kids on halo 3 hacking meh and microsuck being slow to get it back to me.
I find firefight very enjoyable, grunts everywhere :D
Campaign is very odd to me but the cutscenes are badass.
Multiplayer I have yet to play
Forge is awesome!
Oh btw I bought the halo reach controller and it came with a noble 6 avatar helmet.
Anyone else notice you can change grenade types in the sabre, and you hear the noise (even though you shouldnt).
I gotta say, bungie knows how to end a franchise.
:O There is dual-welding!
*** MAJOR MAJOR SPOILER ***
It's one of those cut-scene exclusive things.
Still counts in my book :D
So how long is the campaign and on what difficulty. Or is the game based on multi-player like H3 was :saddowns:
It took me around 7 hours on Heroic, although I wasn't rushing through.
5 hours on normal here.
Got the game today around 1pm EST. Took about 8 hours solo heroic, and there were some surprisingly difficult areas. I found myself resorting to Legendary tactics on heroic, which I never have to do. It feels a lot more like Halo 1 difficulty style. I really enjoyed the campaign- no real annoying missions like Cortana from H3, but
The music was awesome too. I guess I need to play through it a few more times before I can make a real judgment of it. At the least I can say that Bungie knows how to make things look epic, and the game is beautiful.
One thing I hate about Legendary at the moment is that the marines fucking suck at prioritizing targets when they're the gunner in a warthog. They'll shoot a wraith for two seconds then do a 180 to shoot at a goddamn grunt for five minutes that they can't even hit >:C
Finished first run on Heroic. Overall, a good campaign. I'll play it through again a few times, but Halo 1 remains my favorite campaign. I thought they did a lot of things right and a few nagging, annoying things wrong.
- I thought the big revelation was a ridiculous retcon that made zero sense.
- Fucking HUNTERS! What the shit? Bungie just keeps making them more obnoxious to fight.
- Infinitely spawning enemies? There goes my Kill 'Em All runs. In fact, I'm not sure if I even care to replay the game unless I can Kill 'Em All.
- Military jargon and assaulting AA's: sick of it. Halo was best when everybody else is fucking dead and it's just you fucking shit up. The only thing I worried about coordinating was my foot up Covenant ass.
- It's too hard to find decent weapons when you need them. Probably why this game is tougher than it ought to be.
- Armor abilities are too defensive in a game where the best defense is a potent offense.
- Health packs. Why bother?
For those of you who have beat the game and like scrambled eggs:
So I beat the game last night sometime past midnight, and damn, was it amazing, especially the last few levels. The only thing that really pissed me off were the Brute Chieftains with Fuel Rod Guns...what the fuck...
You need to be on legendary and you must wait until after wave 4 ends before the switch will appear. ALL AI does NOT need to be dead - only enough to set the waypoint for Dr. Halsey's lab.
The sound playing in the background of the terminals is exactly the same as in Halo 3. There's 18 sounds total, despite there being more than 18 terminals/data pads.
What's with all the ODST hate? I for one thought ODST's campaign was a lot more fun than Halo 3's. I guess it's a particular play style- I'm by nature a defensive combatant.
I'm enjoying Reach so far, 3 levels in on Legendary after 3 hours. The hunters are extremely obnoxious- it doesn't seem like there's enough ammo to spray bullets at their front, there definitely aren't enough explosives to take them out that way, so you're forced to try and get behind them, which I'm finding overly difficult when there are two of them watching each other's backs. Still, it only takes me a few deaths before I finish the encounter, so it's not too bad.
I have to say, the music is completely hit and miss for me. I absolutely adore the drums and strings sections that are reminiscent of previous Halo games but embody Reach's unique theme, but what the hell is this synth/guitar crap? It sounds completely out of place, and it sounds more dated than the music in Halo 1.
There were a couple of levels that felt alot like ODST, and they felt like you had to keep grinding, like "Oh do this, oh look go over there, oh do it over there again".
Seriously, fuck Hunters. If I get past them, it's all luck. The designers were just being dicks. The part I'm at has no heavy weapons, just a few grenades and a shotgun. I tried as hard as I could to get a Gauss Hog in there, but no dice.
What the Hell, Bungie. You want us to get close, blow the armor off their back, and then shoot that little spot that gets exposed, but you sure don't make it practical. Halo combat has always been great because of those neat shortcuts. The Hunter shortcut is no longer a shortcut. It's a game of chicken. How about you help us out? When I armor lock against their cheap melee attack, how about it at least stuns them? Or if one of them shoots the other in the back, how about it does SOME damage?
One pistol shot to the back in Halo 1 was too easy, but they've gone twice as far in the other direction.
I agree ejburke, they are incredibly tough, even on heroic they take about 4 rocket hits to kill. What gets me is if you use armor lock, they basically just wait for you to pop out, and THE SECOND you do, they shoot you.
I'm dreading hunters on legendary.
Mini Spoiler
How much money have you guys got, and what are you saving for?
Im saving up for these helmets

For some stupid reason, my Bungie account says I havent finished heroic campaign, but in game it does, anyone have any idea why?
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/de...ayer=Limited55
I have yet to play on heroic, though on normal I had difficulties with Hunters until I realized that the Shotgun works well. Seems to take me about 4-5 shells to the back to drop one.
I passed it and armor lock did come in handy. Lucky I had it equipped. Lucky also that I had a DMR to pick off the grunts and combo the Elite that were hanging around. I also got some lucky random checkpoints that helped out.
I'm not one to complain about movement speed in Halo. It helps keep the combat smooth and under control without the need for an aim-down-the-sights mode. But doing the dance with a Hunter is just exposing how un-nimble your Spartan is. Among other frustrations like being at a Hunter's 6 = dead, while being at it's 5 or 7 = alive.
Completed Legendary Very happy atm :D
I am about to beat the game on legendary, and the hunters are the worst. The first two hunters on Sword Base I take out with the gauss hog. I use rockets and plasma launcher on the hunters on Nightfall. On Tip of the Spear, I killed one with the plasma launcher and the other blew itself up by destroying the anti-air gun for me. On New Alexandria, I just run past all 4 in the night club. You can just let your team do all the work on The Package. In the last level, bring rockets with you from the very beginning! When you get the chance to pick up the laser, pick that up and constantly swap weapons so you can "carry" 3. (DMR + rockets + laser). Otherwise, the last two hunters are literally impossible to kill.
Bungie playtests the hell out of their games, but they target it at normal... I'm wondering how this got past playtesting, i.e., are we just doing it wrong and there really is some better way of fighting hunters? did they intend for hunters to cause several deaths before you got past them? are they less frustrating for most people playing on normal?
Eventually I'm gonna go back and evaluate the hunter battles more closely before laying down any judgment. Maybe I'm just making them sound harder than they were.
e: jcap ninja'd. how did you get the gauss hog in sword base? When I saw the hunters I immediately went back for it, but I stopped when I saw the roadblocks because I assumed it was one of those impenetrable vehicle barriers Bungie seems so fond of.
Try using a Revenant as a ramp. That's about all the thing is good for, anyways.
To get the skull helmet you need to unlock and buy all the helmets, thats 1.4 million :O
Jun is fucking retarded. I'm using active-camo, Jun. Why the fuck are you standing right next to me?
Did anyone see KM00's discovery yet?:
http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/...l?read=1011985
Fucking ridiculous find of information.
I'm going to try to look up the XP for levels and such, see if anyone knows what level unlocks what as seeable/buyable in the armory. I want that Gillie Suit Chest, Jun's Helmet and the ODST Shoulders. Already got myself the blue visor.
For Hunters, there's always a shotgun lying around closely. For those of you who don't know, shotgun+hunter's back = dead hunter after a couple of shots (on heroic). I think Bungie is trying to get us to use different strategies for killing Hunters besides the usual Rockets+Grenades.
Oh, and I have a problem. Bungie.net refuses to update my armor on my service record. It still shows me being purple and white with Recon...
I do declare myself SWAT champ. Last 3 kills were sick and final one was over the grav lift in the cage on renta out of nowhere
Ahahahhaha
I pretended I was a hologram and it worked.
Whoever is multiplayer lead or whatever should be shot in cold blood.
I mean it. Fuck them to hell.
Tank is more powerful than in Halo 1, weapons are underpowered, player speed is half. Hmm........
When I was playing Reach a week ago, the first game I played was with 3 of my friends. It was 2v2. One guy on the other team got in their tank and began camping our base. He was impossible to kill. We kept spawning outside of the base with no cover, and no matter what loadout you chose you were screwed regardless. Aside from the god awful spawns, I thought there was no possible way they could put the default map variant with the tank in matchmaking.
And yet when the game comes out, in the first multiplayer game I play, what happens? My team steals their tank, camps their base with it. They can't spawn at all. When they finally did kill the tank, we took our tank which was untouched and continued camping.
This bullshit drops my rating of the game to 4/10 (1 better than MW2, 1 worse than H3) because of shear stupidity. It just makes the game unplayable, and that's out of the box. If they want to leave good first impressions, then they should learn to do shit right.
When have vehicles not been op and annoying as fuck in halo :<
Except for halo 1, that's the only one bungie really did right.

^ and why the hell does this show up in every v-bulletin forum I post in
Just killed a hunter with three shots from a needle rifle to its face. I don't think it was low on health.
