Wow nice comeback. I was rooting for you.
50k XP and a fucking emblem? That's not fucking enough for doing this fucking on LASO. Fuck you.
Hi, I'm Halo 4 MP and I like to take it in the butt
man, what the fuck is even up with halo 4's collision models? I can't recall a single previous halo game with so many fucked up collisions. I looked around in the related videos and found a shitload of "out of map" stuff for the campaign as well, all because of collisionless scenery.
I'm probably going to catch shit for this, but I'm positive the unstable collision geometry (which i've seen in a lot of recent Xbox 360 games) is a result of a lot of the visual elements and tricks that the designers have to employ to make the game look as good as it does. Keep in mind that the system is being seriously pushed, so the more it's pushed the more unstable certain elements will be. Imagine how obsolete the Xbox360's specs are in comparison to a lot of the current digital art software/technology. That's just my two cents though.
Pls build proper BSPs. I don't like holes in my world.
I just completed LASO. It was a doozy, but as long as you know the level skips and have a good partner, it can easily be done.
Supposedly you only need to complete one level to complete LASO.
Source here.
Also, i'm attempting to make a montage.
Going on a 4 minute song, and that's what i've got so far. Should've cleaned up the videos but will do that towards the end once everything is lined up. So shitty quality for now.
Yeah you supposedly had to beat it already on legendary for it to work.
Played the first two chapters of Episode 6.
It's not bad at all, the environments are all custom made too finally. Hopefully they don't get too stale after the next few episodes. Otherwise, this is way better than Episodes 1-5.
Except for two later levels, one which uses an area from Requiem (but now at night) and other uses the Vortex geometry (note: FF never actually uses the campaign/MP maps, they are their own map files)
Speaking of map files, does anyone have the container file for the new episodes?
Oh yeah and the Forge Test playlist is awesome. At least, most of the maps I've played so far are. I played this beautifully simple and arena style CTF match. Felt like the old Halo 3 days since there were WEAPON SPAWNS and they weren't marked on the UI like ordnance. The only thing marked was the overshield in the middle, which was nice because that thing is pretty inconsipicious compared to the giant glowing ball in previous games.
Halo 4 is finally starting to pickup, in my opinon.
I played one game yesterday and I'm assuming you're talking about the same map I'm thinking of. Very symmetrical map, OS kinda raised up on that middle platform? Flag return super quick? I loved that gametype and map. It was so fun to have almost like a speed flag gametype.
Inconspicuous because everything else is holy fuck bright. Welcome back, Overshield cube, you have been missed!
yo dawgs, so liek we hurd u liek infinity so we're taking u to infinity and beyond: http://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/un...sode-7-trailer
Btw, if anyone wants to actually understand the story before playing Halo 4, then do this:
Read Fall of Reach and The Flood, play Halo 1,Read First Strike, play Halo 2 and Halo 3, read Ghosts of Onyx, Glasslands, The Thursday War, and then finally you can start Halo 4. Now you'll actually be able to understand what all their cryptic story bullshit is about (Infinity, Didact, Requiem, and most importantly, Jul 'Mdama).
Yeah, I didn't read asslands and herpday war until after Halo4 and so expierencing H4 was all like "okay..."
Then afterwards it was all like "fuck this Halsey knocking Traviss bitch, and fuck Jul"
Halsey is kicking ass and taking names and I'm loving it.
Oh, also: Chapter 3 (Ep6) was fucking awesome. Why the hell wasn't Spartan Ops this fun for the first 5 episodes?
Hint:. FLYING FUCKING BANSHEES IN A BIG CAVE KNOCKIN' DOWN SOME BITCH ASS PROMETHEANS.
Dude, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. I thought Glasslands and The Thursday War were both very good, entertaining, and my only remote gripe is that there was little from the Arbiter's perspective. I don't see Karen Traviss knocking on Dr. Halsey at all: considering how Parangosky as a character is and what ONI has always been, this is the exact sort of thing you'd see them do to gain faith from both the civilians and high brass by letting out what they all THINK is the worse skeleton in the closet. Obviously, we as the audience know differently, but the fact is simply that Parangosky had to release the origins of what Halsey did back then to boost promotions for the Spartan IV program. At the same time, we know Halsey as a character is still very much intact and is true to what we know her as.
I simply think you're being a bit too cynical about this brah.
And Jul is cool. His hostility is also kind of warranted given the UNSC bound/gagged him, incarcerated him, starved him, fed him genetically engineered food that would be distributed to his people to starve them into near/complete extinction, found out the UNSC was trying to do this, had a bomb strapped to him if, and finally escaped only to find out his wife had been murdered by UNSC interference which has forced the Sangheili to cooperate with UNSC actions. Yeah, I'd kind of be pissed too.
I just wish we would see more from Halfjaw or the Arbiter.
For years Bungie was acting like a floodgate, keeping the extraneous elements of the Halo novels out of the games, to keep from confusing the shit out of people. Then they gave in and made Reach and put Halsey in it. Fan service and fan service. And now 343 has taken that ball, cut a hole in it, popped it in the oven for 10 minutes, are are fucking the shit out of it.
It's just going to get nerdier from here. And I regret 3/4's of the shit I know about the halo universe. I'm just happy I don't know who Jul is, other than a terrrrrrist Sangh.... uh, I mean, Elite.
When you give in and cave on something, don't you like to squeeze in a defiant, "fuck you" where appropriate?
"You guys want a Fall of Reach game? You want to meet Halsey and the other Spartans? FINE! But the climax of the game is going to take place in an ugly brown shipyard, canon be damned!"
Hey Kornman, is there a way to disable sprint for a gametype by modding it or no?
Yeah, up can disable sprint via the variant
Should totally make a H3 slayer variant. No ordinance, no loadouts. Just starter weapons (AR and Pistol), and have to pickup the rest.
Would require maps with weapons on them too :P
It'd be interesting to see it in regge-rok. Though, the player traits would have to be tweak a tad, as H3 has a 0.05 faster movement rate than Reach/4
Yeah, but I think it'd be an interesting thing to play.
I wonder how close you could get Halo 4 to play like Halo 3.
We should try it, I could be a guinea pig for testing gametypes.
I would abuse the Stasis Gun in MP.
I'm pretty sure everybody would.
It's basically giving you a free kill or kills and map control at the same time. Not even the Rocket Launcher does that. I can see why 343i left it out.
cornyman do you need a modded xbox to edit gametypes?
No modded Xbox needed
So I just switched the flag object to the oddball in CTF (haven't tried making it throwable yet)...you still get the flagnum (carry the ball in your left hand). Flagssassinated my guest and saw an oddball assassination I haven't seen before: took the ball and cracked it like a coconut over the person's head. It was either that or it was still using the flag animations, where you shove the pole into the person's skull
I don't really get the hate for H4's story. I like they're tying it into the larger fiction. Even though it does contradict some stuff, it's not like Bungie was any better. I prefer the new cannon they are establishing rather than Bungie's, "Make shit up as we go along and retcon everything after every game."
You realize, that in making "new cannon", they have to retcon shit themselves, right? And SPOPs is being made up as they go along...
343i is no fucking innocent virgin, never mind who may make up their lower ranks
Also, in FoR grunts are described as sounding like dogs and being untranslatable. While in FoR it may have been acceptable to have blarg-blarg-blarg speaking aliens, H4 takes place after all the other games where the UNSC had translation software and they still don't sound like fucking dogs. In fact, they sound like fucking shit. Staten wasn't the only guy who did voices for the grunts, it's not like they couldn't keep that ball rolling.
Ah yes, but clearly, just like all the assault rifles and magnums between Halo: CE and Halo 2, the UNSC's shit seems to randomly disappear. Same as Cortana's face, the Chief's armor, and Johnson's 'stache (EDIT: Everything post Halo 2). I suppose this means that all translation software just got up and left too.
:v:
Well, for me it's the details. The main IDEA of their story is fine, the execution is not, especially since it's building on the BS from the Forerunner trilogy of books.
Also, Grunts are are supposed to be able to legitimately speak English, which is a point of pride for them since the other races can't or are slower at learning it.
Finally, Bungie did say that Halo was never intended to be a series. It was a one-off that was so popular that Microsoft demanded a sequel.
So I tried out the grifball playlist
and for a few seconds I was wondering why the fuck it sounded so quiet, and then I realized it was because they made the brute hammer sound like a littly blippy thing
then I scored
AND NOBODY EXPLODED :(
343i why
halo 4 grifball feels...neutered
One of the gameplay animators posted a reel of some of the stuff he did. I asked him how much was mo-capped compared to hand keyframed and he said that all of it was hand animated. He's still on board for Halo 5 and 6 as well. It's truly awesome, I can't wait to see what he does in Halo 5 on a new console where his animations can really shine with a higher FPS and graphical fidelity.

I now have a favorite digital artist.
I wish this game had save films, because I just did the broadsword run on legendary without dying while boosting nearly the entire way though. I let off the throttle maybe 4 or 5 times for less than a second each. How I wish I had a capture card....
In b4 someone starts hatin' again.
Speaking of hate, Episode 9 is going to bring out a lot of hate for Palmer again. But, look at it this way, we know the writers are still portraying Halsey as the inherent good figure in all figure in all of this, even if she doesn't align with ONI (which she never really did to begin with). At the same time, THIS GONE GET GOOD.
Still can't find my Halo 4. Getting super pissed because I really want to play the new SPOPs.
Jul is my favorite of the new characters. It's really cool to see an elite playing the role of the prophets, but instead of being a pussy ass space pope he's just out for revenge against humanity.
He's not the hero the Elites need, but he's the hero they deserve. :downs:
Palmer tho :ugh:
Still trying to figure how how a whiny bitch that can't help but lose her temper in front of every one is the second highest rank on board that ship. With stuff like that, plot is superficial. The storytellers aren't looking to tell us a story. The only thing they can do is say that A happens, so B happens, and C gets really mad about not being able to D at E.
Unless they're using this as research for pipeline on a feature film, I don't understand why they're doing this.
OH
MY
GOD
They must have George Lucas writing this.
The epigloue film saved this week (fucking starting cinematic was short too). If it wasn't for it, this would be a shitty week. So shitty. Like they made their toilet into a SPOPs map and made us play it.
Episode 10 for you lazy assholes, make sure to let them buffer:
As far Palmer being an emotional 2nd-in-command, I think it's simply the point that she's not a raised Spartan, just an elite marine who's no different than Silva or Ackerson. Emotional assholes who can't their heads out of their asses.
*sigh*
Yeah, 343i flat out reversing direction that Bungie set out.
I said that it was like a bad fan fiction, but this is just sad.
I'm calling it now, 343I announces halsey goes back into the past, put into spartan armour and joins noble team.
Catherine Halsey-Kat
:ohdear:
Wasn't Kat's robo arm her right :p?
Roland was enjoyable in the beginning. I had fun driving the Warthog downhill. Also enjoyed escaping the blue cave while being thrown around.
Anyone else's heart sank when :arm:? :ohdear:
Revenge smells sweet right about now.
I don't think she'll ever fully betray humanity, but she's on Jul's good side now.
Also am I the only one who's really sad to see Requiem destroyed? We waited 62 months to find out what it was... and it's gone now after just 3 months of us first setting down on it :-\. What does this mean for the survival of the Didact and the Promethians?
Eh, I think we're going to see more. The Composer was known to upload human consciousness from one great distance to the next in less than six months (probably instantaneous), so why can't they offload a bunch of Promethean information from Requiem to someplace else? It would be easy.
Requiem gone means new places to visit in later games. Maybe places with less bland architecture, even!
Finished Episode 10.
Why the fuck wasn't Spartan Ops like this before? Seriously, the third to fifth missions were awesome and played nearly like campaign levels. The Lich part was great too.
Also, ending:

I love it when designers make balance changes:

Was playing as usual the other day and came across an interesting glitch. When I entered a BTS lobby I immediately noticed
that everyone was SR-1 and had exactly the same armor. More interesting was the game itself where for some reason
everyone only had the default loadouts meanwhile all ordnance and weapon spawns were as usual. To be honest it was great
fun as it felt like classic halo BTB where everyone starts equal but was enhanced by ordnance drops.
Also, Majestic Map Pack
Hornet is back.
Yeah I noticed that glitch too, only I also got a notification stating the Halo 4 servers were down and only the default playlists were available.
I'm betting that Hornet is an ambient vehicle, not something people can actually use
What a bunch of cock teases
Hornet @ 1:30
Just played a game on Exile, and started to realize something:
This game fucking sucks.
I was cheated out of so many fucking kills that should've been mine because this game is just a clusterfuck of horrible tagging, too many bullshit weapons, bad mechanics (sprinting and armor abilities are all fucking broken) and the worst map design I've seen in ages. Seriously, why the fuck do people like Exile? It's atrocious. Movement isn't smooth at all. Absolutely terrible. Fuck this game. I will still try Majestic tomorrow but otherwise I'm done with this piece of shit for a while.
This is why I play Halo Wars
And pretend to actually believe Frankie that they'll do a sequel
Heh, ironically I just got back from a party where I sat around playing Halo 4 with some friends and family. I beat everyone there, but I'm still not a huge fan of the game.
In all honesty, I enjoy it about as much as I'd enjoy Call of Duty in terms of multiplayer. Sure, it's fine regardless of whether I'm winning or losing (I don't care about getting mad at other players much anymore), but I don't actually find enjoyment and eventually get bored of the entire thing.
To put it lightly, it's like drinking watered down apple juice.
On a positive note about the game: the music is good. Makes me feel like a big damn hero.
I can agree to this. Heh, I know what you mean about playing Halo with some friends and totally sweeping everyone. Played Halo 3 with a group of theatre folk (I am a Theatre Minor in College/University) and just owned everyone. I hadn't even played Halo 3 in about 6 months. [/gloating]
As far as the music, I've listened to the soundtrack an absurd amount of times and it's still good. It's not as commanding as Marty's is, which was a valid critique someone made in a review, but it's still fantastic in many ways.
I was super mad and wanted to take a quick rant. Let everyone know I'm one foot onto the hate-bandwagon.
On the topic of music...I didn't find much of it to be memorable. Rather, not from the game but from the ViDocs. I honestly remember hearing better music from the ViDocs than I recall in the campaign at all. Aside from 117 and maybe Requiem, I didn't care for the rest of the tracks. Nothing struck me as emotionally as Halo 3's beautiful piano/orchestra soundtrack.
I only played Midnight recently, running through the Composer area with Arrival in the background. Sounds kinda heroic, but it's really a "just in the moment" song.
Arrival, 117, Belly of The Beast, Requiem and Nemesis. All perfection.
I still stand by the fact that there needs to be something added for people level 130.. even if it's just a prestige or something. I've lost most of my will to keep playing the game because the only thing I have to work towards is commendations.. I mean, I love halo and I do play occasionally, but its just weird playing now not working towards a goal of some sort other than having fun. I know that sounds stupid considering fun should be the primary goal, but meh. I've been playing a ton of BF3 lately and starting to like it a bit better. :/
Some of the music is pretty memorable. Requiem's introduction was amazing.
But, for example, the cave level? Where there ought to be something amazing playing because you're in a giant cave in the middle of a gigantic forerunner planet? Yeah. I only heard one or two notes the entire time. The asthetics are just all over the place.
DO YOU REMEMBER??
Broken Bill Gates
Dear god, this is how they do it. They get us used to playing for levels and unlocks, then they introduce microtransactions to either extend them or offer a shortcut...stop while you're ahead dude.

The story is also pretty much the same as in Tron: Legacy as well. Get sent to self-contained world. Kill mooks. Wake up bad-guy. Bad-guy re-purposes programs to invade outside world and has access to a giant ship meant for said conversion and invasion. Must stop badguy.
I liked Bungie's Forerunner look better. It had more of a solid, "how the fuck can this be anything other than a box" look to it. More cryptic and ethereal.
Yeah I still say that Halo 3 had the best Forerunner aesthetics.
