we, as halo fans, know all too well what happens when a dev rushes to churn out sequels to a bestseller. they may be bestsellers too, but we feel a sinking feeling as we play them. rushing does nobody any good.
i'm not yelling at valve and crying valve time and all that other nonsense, i'm just disappointed :(
I found that section easy as fuck when I played through HL1 last summer :downs:
HL2 has always been in Europe so it's not that far.
Besides which, the ends of HL2-ep1 and ep1-ep2 weren't totally seamless. It could just pick up in the helecopter zooming over a skybox-generated area (and bigger maps would no doubt be possible in the ep3 engine vOv).
yeh, crouching helps a lot.
So it jumps forward a bit until something interesting happpens and the chopper crashes.
so what vOv
ep1 started after some LOL VORTIGAUNTS and odd teleportation (as Alyx says, it's been a few hours since the citadel exploded) and Ep2 started after the train had crashed down a bridge (which you hadn't gotten onto by the time the citadel SPOILERD wait like anyone cares anymore, exploded~).
Yeah, but, there's a difference between rushing a project out and actually spending dev time on it instead of developing and releasing three whole games between episodes.
Apparently they're great games (I haven't played them- don't yell at me, I hardly play any games anymore) and apparently valve is having sensible business practice and apparently the half life series isn't nearly as popular yadda yadda.
It's not about what's sensible and it's not about what other people want, it's about what I want! I want my episode 3! :gonk:
Ironic bitching aside, I would like to point out that by promising episodic releases and then going on to do other things with no intention of even finishing episode 3 in the near future, valve really seems to be saying "we don't care" to the fans of the series that made their name.
They're making more people happy with their more popular games, and they have every right to do whatever they want with their own IPs, but I still find it somewhat insulting. They started something that a lot of people love, but then decided to leave those people hanging so they could make other people happy. It's just... rude.
e: WHINE BITCH MOAN!
the thing is that l4d and l4d2 introduced all kinds of cool shit, so the delay is worth it if even some of that tech makes it into ep 3. the other thing is that those two were done by turtle rock, it's just that valve owns them now. or something. i dunno, that's what i heard anyway
