God my eyes. That render is like.... 2 years old if not 3. Looks so damn shitty.

3 or 4 years is a closer estimate...and yes. XD
People say cell phones with 1.3MP cameras take shitty pictures. While I agree completely, I think this one turned out rather nicely for an on the fly shot with said shitty camera. It's a creek on Old Rag Mountain in western VA.
These next pictures are drawings, and are the reason we call cellphone cameras crap. But, since scanner isn't working, and I want to post stuff, not much I can do...XD
A titlescreen, so to speak. There is no wind in space, yes, but there is when cosmic dust is being pulled into a black hole (but not close enough so that the ship gets pulled in).
German battleship ( Gothika written on the side, and the inscription on the lower plating says "The light shall flee in the darkness" in Anglicised Greek), actually a prototype in my universe.
German Fokker 260...probably should of molded it around the Fw.190 rather than the Bf.109, but I like the look of the latter better. Since this pic I have slimmed it down...stupid me though for drawing the top view too close to the port view. Needs flight characteristics.
Imperial fighter, an Issledovan P.52 (name will probably be changed). Still need to make some flight characteristics for it.
If anyone has read the manga BLAME! by Tsutomu Nihei, you'll know that is where I got inspiration for this drawing. No relation to the other stuff in this thread.
Great stuff, man! I really like the airplane designs.
holy shit i forgot this thread existed! nice stuff man it looks great :3
Mmmm, line art! By hand! Specs are here.
Groupe pour Calais (or just Calais) Calden-Nieu XXIX C. V
Erstes deutsches Reich (just Ersten for short) Albrecht-Junkers D. IV...I'm aware that I forgot an R in the title on the picture.
You designing Vanships, sir?
Good eye, sir. :v:
Inspired by (favourite anime, clearly), but work nothing like. Those tubes serve to collect some of the water vapour and cycle it back to the boiler, improving efficiency. The Imperial planes don't have such appendages because they use plasmagnetic rockets and thrust-vectoring, powered by a matter/anti-matter percussion engine. You'll see this one soon enough.
On alien worlds that had no life prior to human colonisation, there aren't any fossil fuels to be had, so I need a propellant (steam, as it were). It's essentially a steam-powered low-bypass turbofan jet engine with World War I styling, because there are no computers and humanity just had a nasty dark age. Flight is assisted by heated helium stores in the wings and the nose of the aircraft, since that shit is heavy. Gravity is also generally slightly less than 1g on most inhabited worlds, so wings don't need to be as large for lift (wings also short to reduce target area).
I has physics. Last Exile does not.
If the planet has lower gravity than earth would that not make the atmosphere less dense and so needing longer wings to catch more air?
Not necessarily. It depends what the atmosphere is composed of too. Take Venus, for example; it has lower gravity than earth, but the atmospheric pressure is immense due to composition; it more than makes up for that lack of gravity.
Anywho, more pics:
Rough sketch of something I might come back to later.
wut...
Mmmm, Chemistry class...I thought it was some p good doodling.
Your drawings turned out fine, but your hands, warsaw, something's got to be done about your hands!
