The new sniper should replace the old full time. The original just looked.... bad.... I'm not say I can do any better, but that's my opinion.

Did you read lag's post? They haven't decided if ones staying all the time or having both but on different missions like the Silenced and Non-Silenced SMG.

On a seperate note, exactly what features has it borrowed from the H1 and CMT Snipers?
The only reminiscence of the H1 Sniper that I can make out is an obnoxiously huge muzzlebrake.
It has the bolt grip behind the port, as from the h1 sniper, and the scope has (now 4) displays showing info like ammo and the compass, as from the CMT sniper.

We never had heatvision, that was a video effect M5 wanted to put in.
What are the other two displays besides compass bearing and magazine capacity?
We never had thermal vision - that was just a haxy movie effect. I'm planning though, on having the pose anim cycle through the 4 display modes (that's what those buttons on the side are for) and causing a filter of different colored noise to cover the display part.
The other 4 displays are magnification level and max. rounds loaded. If anyone has better ideas (providing they are doable) I'm more than open to them.
Max rounds loaded? What's the difference between that and magazine capacity?
Also, has anyone ever figured out how to make a laser sight that looks good and functions like the flashlight without dragging a vertex and coloring it red? A laser sight would fit right into the counterweight under the barrel, not to mention the Spartan Laser.
Max. rounds never changes. I was trying to fill the 4th display box and that's the first thing that came to mind >_>
To answer question 2, it depends on the capacity of it. If it's just a simple dot you want projected where you're aiming, then yes. If a contrail is to be involved, then no without removing grenades for a secondary trigger.
Goddamn it I'm goin to end up liking this new model more than the MA5C... I like the original bungie boxy range finder more than just a boring looking scope, like in SPv1.
Ah. In that case why don't you have that display tell you which filter is running, even if it's just for posing? (infrared, ultravoilet, x-ray, nightvision filter, no filters, etc.)

As in a rapid firing no-damage tracer would be required for a contrail that doesn't permeate the BSP? That wouldn't look good anyway.

Those are the reload animations. I rendered them using the old sniper model, so that explains why it's still there. The h2 arms are there because I animate with them now. CMT still uses the h1 arms ingame.
Also, I don't understand why you refer to h1's sniper as "shitty." I find its animations very nice. Could you explain this?
Will there be any other special weapons other than the Portable Turret? Say, like the Missile Pod? By the way, the sniper looks fine with me, I don't see any thing wrong with it.

I'm learning how to skin, this is the result of 2 days from first opening PhotoShop. Once you learn how to do something, it sticks and becomes natural. you don't discover things by accident though - you need to experiment to get what you want the first few times.

Now concerning the model:
- I'm assuming since you modeled the ejection port it will be animated to snap open and shut when firing and loading?
- Where did the four status displays go? You decided they weren't necessary, or you're incorporating them onto the primary display?
- Why does the trigger end in a point?

Just got it 2 (now 3) days ago.
A. The port is fully animated now.
B. The displays are hidden because they already have skins from when Leet made the old CMT sniper.
C. Cause I'm a lazy bastard and don't feel like fixing it quite yet.

i hate not having just a simple 2x scope on the laser, it'd be really useful in snow grove when u have to take down hogs from far away (if youre using the laser up close, then u might as well be using a rocket launcher)
I looked at the CMT sniper anims and thought.... Well, if these sniper anims are going to be for both the SSRS99D AMB and the S2 AM, they each should have different animations. The SSRS99D could have the no bolt. The S2AM could have the manual -back-foward / original for reload_full and the bolt pushback for reload_empty.
SSRS99D- No Bolt for reload_empty and reload_full.
S2 AM - Original for reload_full Bolt Pushback for reload_empty.
It's just a suggestion, but since the SRS99D doesnt have the bolt pull in any animation anywhere. *in halo 3*

Unfortunately, the mechanics of Halo's sniper rifle don't allow the full back-forwards animation to be practical. If used for a reload-full animation, it would eject the unused round currently chambered - thus costing you a shot every time you reload. The bolt also locks back when there is no round chambered, so there wouldn't be a need to pull it back on reload-empty.
^ Which brings up the question: would you have to model and animate an empty casing being ejected from the port when firing, or do you think you can get it to sync up good enough with the ejected shell in TP?
I definately could do that if it was needed, but as the shells in my "canonical" representation of the gun can eject to either side at user's preference, chances are I won't, as you'd never see them. (Being a lazy artist I'd have them eject out of sight to the right.)
Errr... I meant bolt pushfoward on a reload empty, but I see what you mean.
Since all the SRS99-variants have the same basic receiver, they should all reload the same as they utilize the same mechanism. Though, peculiarly, the SRS99C-S2 AMB (and maybe the SRS99D-S2 AM, not sure) variants posses no bolt catch.

There should be some variety of color, maybe some grey from the default sniper. I just didn't like how the old CMT sniper was completely black, it kindoff drowned out the detail.

Also, can you pick up spike nades and not be able to use them until you grab a spiker or brute shot? Just a question.
