Anyone try this yet? Apparently it's basically just an updated version of Battlefield 2, with the classic Karkand maps and a modified BF2 engine. I might check it out for nostalgia's sake, kind of like a Battlefield 2.5 (ignoring the Bad Companies).
Play4Free is bullshit. Go play the real BF2 for $5. Well, at least that's what it costed in a Steam sale and EA sale a few months back. Play for free limits you a good deal, but I had a bit of fun playing it when it first went beta. Still, once I fired up BF2 again, P4F was no match for it.
Alright, wasn't sure if it was good or not. I own BF2, still got my old profile.
I play both. P4F is better if all you want to do is jump in and play a few rounds. BF2 is superior in every way, but is also more serious and you have to go in with the "I want some serious playtime" mindset.
Basically, P4F is for 10-30 minute play sessions and BF2 is for your 2+ hour marathons.
P4F is fucking clunky as hell. I have no clue how you play it. I played one round of karkand and uninstalled it.
I need people to play with :(

These aren't necessarily bad things for people who are used to CoD. It may serve as a good way to break them into the true BF series. The problem is that the only proper way to learn BF2/2142 is to play those games. For people who have already played BF2/2142, P4F is going to seem like a pile of crap.
Eh, but I play BF2 and I don't think P4F is a pile of crap. It is more complete than Bad Company 2, you just can't switch classes mid-game. However, it has a full suite of ground (AFV, AA, tank, jeep), sea (actual transport boats with guns), and air units (jets, helicopters). BC2 only has a helicopter, a jet-ski, and two armoured vehicle types. Oh, and a jeep and an ATV. It's way over-streamlined.

Not until the BF3 nostalgia finally warrants one. Nobody wants to play, or they cannot at the times that I set. So I think that anyone who wants to host a gamenight, tell me and I'll add it to a list of possible game times. Then a person picks the best time they think they can play and post it here so we can add up the best possible day/time and play with more than just 5 people. The only reason we got as many as we did last time is because I invited most of your asses into a single steam chat room.
BF3 isn't coming out till October...
What will get everyone to play? Do we need our own server hosting? A better way to contact everyone, and setup dates for gamenights?

Minimum wage here is like $10/hour, assuming 40 hours a week (part-time) that's $400 (subtract your tax deductible)... Most places pay bi-weekly as well don't they? So that's like $800 every two weeks.
I'm fairly certain minimum wage in the US is below $9. Yeah, just checked and in South Carolina, minimum wage is $7.25. That seriously blows.
I was wrong actually, it's $8.80 here. I don't really know of anywhere here in Calgary that would pay that low though... We're an oil city after-all.

This gamenight has a twist though, everyone that plays that is in BFM will get a free copy of Audiosurf (if you have it, you'll get 1.50 through Paypal). But that's not all, the winner of whatever gametype is being played at 6:30 GMT will get a copy of whatever $10 game they want on Steam (If there are no games you like today, you can hold onto the winnings until there is).

I think it's important that clarification be given here. The game starts at 4PM Mountain Standard Time, which is GMT/UTC -7. Pacific standard time is currently also GMT-7 due to DST being observed in california but not in Arizona where Plague lives.
So the game is starting at 11PM GMT/UTC. NOT 4:00 GMT as posted. Adjust for your own time as necessary.
Edit: Plague thought GMT meant General Mountain Time. Hahahahaha.

My TeamSpeak will be working again, and likely not crash.
Good. I don't know why, but when we started using Steam voice chat instead, my FPS dropped by about 5-10.
Steam voice uses a lot of resources compared to TS it seems, and it doesn't seem as good quality :\
Also, I would call last night's gamenight a great success. We had 8 people constantly (10 people if you include jcap and Addo, but they left after a game or two). When me and ExAm weren't steamrolling on squad deathmatch, the teams were pretty even. Now if we could only get MXC and Phopo to switch teams :p

Well, last night my visibility on Atacama going from my laptop to my iMac went down about 50% yet I somehow kept getting some crazy hits on helicopters. I dunno, maybe it's the good framerate that helps :iiam:

Derplancer just says that Atacama is too open, which is kinda true. And heavy metal is kinda too big for 24 players.
Heavy Metal was too big for BC2 on the consoles, holy shit. It was awesome though, sniper heaven. I can see his point about Atacama, in fact I rescind and redact my previous statement as I now remember all those irritating times I was based camped by 2 faggots in both helicopters. I loved it for the M1 Abrams action though.

Never, ever, ever ever ever had an issue with it when I had a halfway decent ping. Expecting hitreg to work when you or the server is lagging is insanity.
