Ok, if you didn't see that thing I posted in the old unfinished projects thread, back before I knew what the hell I was doing I tried to model this Lego thing I built a couple of years back:
The results were embarrassing:
Well, I've resumed the project because I'm bored with BSP modeling right now. I've decided to put in every little detail, down to the expansion joints in the lines coming out of the fuel tanks. At this point I've almost finished the framing:

Updates as it progresses =D
Jesus wow, that must've been time consuming :|
I suspect the results will be win.

I made an explosion but I don't know what to do with it :(
Smoke came out ugly as hell :gonk:
Also, Dano, the AR looks a bit too sharp.
That looks awesome.
Aside from the tree looking like a collection of "Rabbit Ears" antennae, that's really good!
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/449/gladewv7.jpg
I made that way back when I was a noob.
OH LORD IT'S ANCIENT BUMP TIEM.
I miss looking at art. D:
Anyway, I just finished this one tonight. :) Hope you all like it.

You did that in Paint?
Meh, I've never understood the whole concept of Paint art. If you have professional tools like Photoshop, why not use them?
Also, is fashion your thing?
Man you do the one thing I always sucked at Aero. Poses.
tablet right?
(please don't say mouse D:)
I think the main thing behind Paint art - for those who have PS anyway - is that they're either trying to emulate something low-tech-ish (sprite comics, for instantce) or they're just doing it to show off (as in, "holy shit, I'm so awesome I can draw better in basic illustration programs than most people can with PS"). I actually find it quicker and easier to draw basic things in Paint than PS, though... probably since I don't have a tablet. Everything I draw on the PC is done with a bog-standard MS IntelliPoint optical mouse.
Yeah, I should probably get one of those tablets. I'm horrible at drawing with a mouse.
aero, i like, the legs look a bit short though, even with the giant soles.
The tablet is the best thing that ever happened to me. Parents bought it for me, since it's technically a school supply (I'm an art student). It's good for basic sketching (though it is kinda hard to get used to) and colouring. But in terms of using things like the pen tool and shapes, the mouse is the best bet. You use tablet to start, mouse to ink, tablet to colour.
They're freaking amazing.
Not bad in pricing either. About $100 - $200. I'll have to look into it.
OMFG. that pwns. Screw the people dissin the dots, they dont understand the style.
I thought it was supposed to be shiny spots, like if you shine a light source on a smoothish round object and then look at it.
EDIT: Who tattoos in white anyway?

about 40-60 min of on and off work..
very early WIP
are you trying to do high res?
because that's not very good :<
also, the blue burns my eyes. is it going to be a boaty? :D
neat design, i like the whizzlemadingys on the side.
ya my first high res..
the platform's gonna get replaced, lol.. and some parts of the turret that are low poly..
i only rendered it blue cause my usual grey on dull blue-green background bored me D:
I liked the blue :<
TBH I'm tired of all those grey renders.
Just watched some speed painting videos on youtube and it motivated me to do my first proper painting in photoshop.

30 minutes so far with a mouse
:awesome:
The lips and nose are dodgy because those get cut off by my girlfriends face anyway, so I won't bother with them.
Btw, it's a picture of me and my girlfriend, for those of you who haven't seen the "what you can't live without" thread.
your cheeks look abnormally huge. like you're a fat man.
:iia:
Can't wait to see it done.
Also, 2 old edits of RO screens I found lurking on my HD:
http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/4715/focuszz2.jpg
Focus
Untitled.
Both shot on my old video card :gonk:
well then fix it you woman D:
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1...dprogremn8.jpg
Meh, this is hard with a mouse ok.
Holy shit, man. That looks almost exactly like the photo :o
Well not really, it's pretty out of proportion but that's due to bad planning and not sketching first. I find it annoying sketching with mouse so i just went straight into painting.
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/8705/render3iw2.jpg
showable progress. i work on it on and off, so i couldn't really count how much time it took...
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6...paintedrf6.jpg
Finished. Shes gunna love this :3
btw, sorry for the whole lovey-dovey spam hit, I woz poastink proagress ohkay!
Holy shit dude, nice! Only thing that really gives it away is the hair.
Nice one Dano....I think it could use some more contrast/more interesting lighting though. Seems kinda cloudy and gray, unless thats what you wanted.
for a mouse that must have taken forever :O
Dano is :awesome:
anyways,
http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3721/render5xk0.jpg
i'm still thinking of whether i should model in little grooves or not..
My latest stuff, which I did this morning before going to work. The :smack: emoticon.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ackawesome.gif
Woot!
Could use a little more contrast on the shades........
Probably. I'm sure it still needs work. It still looks too bright to me.
this topic produces.
work on her beany dane, the lines look wrong :(
no shit. I honestly cbf
Here is my submission for the speed modeling challenge at gearbox:

315,946 polys.
Yes, I see that error.....
theres nothing holding up the cloth >_>
There probably is... r-shaped beams?
How long did this take?
that's really good O_o
Look closer in the second image, there is a beam.Quote:
theres nothing holding up the cloth >_>
2 hours, I would of fixed the errors if I had time.Quote:
How long did this take?
that's really good O_o
no, it's really basic.
all he shows is that he knows wtf he's doing, and that gained him some respect in my eyes. you on the other end, lost respect by going wsbuwghu w34 taz awwsum mawn
the scene itself is still pretty shit in my eyes, but that's ok.
gj lama, nice one.
(and that means ALOT coming from me)
You really got down the appearance of the cloth as it folds in on itself. How long have you been practicing the style of draping fabric?
he hasnt. it's just reactor.
<3 Tweek. Everybody listen to him, because everything he just said is correct. I much as I don't like dissing my own work, it IS shit. Almost nothing is attached, I used cheap modifiers, and a bunch of other things. It's ok though, because the only thing that matters (unless it's a game) is what the render turns out like. Believe me, I'd look a lot better if I wasn't rushing my ass off.
Yeah, to model that manually would be... hard. Cloth simulation D:
And soft select on the ground...
nah, it's the making it looks realistic that's the trick.
most people can make some folds in cloth.
but you need a good amount of reference, and know how it works to make the things by hand, and have it still look believable.
trisangles on the frame are too deep tbh.
cool skin :P
oh fuck I see win...optical illusion or rare occasion?
Details are too deeply engraved, but it does look very nice.
Fix them up :D
What everyone else said, pluss just because you can make a gun battle worn doesn't mean you have to :saddowns:
I think I was just clinically dead there for a couple of seconds. :downs:
Ok I'll fix the details. Doing the scope and stuff now.
large image here
a few people might have seen this a while back, but i dont think i ever showed it here.
i stopped working on it, since anything i added, didn't really add to it at all.
also cba to unwrap it, so you won't see it textured anytime soon.
called it done, because i didn't feel like working on it anymore.
fucking EPIC
Dano for president ! :-3
Holy shit, that kicks ass.
ES?
Holy shit that's awes:ome.
Heatshield bores could bear a little darkening.
Also, this switch could be modeled:
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4...ivefiregk2.jpg
A mod consisting of what other than the Battle Rifle? o_O
rofl tweek, you just slapped on the engine compartment of another ship instead of making your own :p
still, i think it came out nice.
what? no i didnt >:O
Holy shit tweek I love you. Like dano said, EPIC.
Edit: I can't rep you!11!!!1!1!!!! :mad::mad::mad:
Much better, though the vents still need work.
what are the vents?
The ten pits in the heatshield (immediately beneath the rail). The bottoms have to be darkened quite a bit. Also, don't neglect the magazine release.
@ Ross: You'd see it every time you melee, though. If it has as simple a design as you described (which it sure looks like based on H2 screenies), all it would be is an imprinted low-detail tube with minor embellishment at the opening; it should be affordable. :(
That's neat.
Very nice. :D
the sex-o-meter just went outta control. And yet, its only 15% done :awesome:
15% ? What the... !
Very nice dano :awesome:
EDIT : Hey, look ! I'm such a failure when it come to real business -> :(
