um...no what in the fuck does poly by poly modeling mean? plane modeling is correct. and no it does not need less tris, 6,000 should probably be your max.
either way needs more models.
legionaire45, don't listen to anything this guy says, he has no clue what he is talking about. his modeling knowledge is equivalent to that of a kid with down syndrome.
killa, as ross pointed out, proportions are way off. as well as accuracy.
try to find some better ref pics online, you're probably better off starting over. i'm not sure what you searched for but try using Browning M2 or Browning M2HB

Eh I hate typing long posts.
Poly by poly modeling means creating one polygon at a time. I have no idea how this plane modeling crap started.
He can let his model poly count be the same as a next gen biped if he wants.
Just suggesting to keep it around the orignal halo weapons poly count.

Re: Gallery Topic (post your favorite work, or WIP's)
uh, no. all polygonal modeling is "poly by poly". PLANE modeling is so-called because of the primitive you start with. can you get a clue, please?

Poly by poly modeling is basicly draging a plane to create shaps.
Look up poly by poly modeling.
Re: Gallery Topic (post your favorite work, or WIP's)
how about you look up my post. i know what i'm talking about.
Re: Gallery Topic (post your favorite work, or WIP's)
i said drop it, but since you persist, that is NOT plane modeling, plane modeling is when the modeler uses a plane to hold a reference image and create the model to the image on the plane. not using planes to model.

Lets drop this now before I get a warning or a infraction.
