my post on Bnet was the shoop, i wanted to see if it actually tricked them...
i mean if i had cleaned it up it would have looked more believeable...
also my shoop is of a Mk V helmet, why does everyone think EVA?

Well I tried. I should have saved myself the stress and avoided your link.
I think that helmet is pretty cool, but it doesn't crush my soul to know that I'll never have it... Kids these days...

should have listened to jcap and saved myself the irritation with that thread. i was going to post too, but my logic nerve finally kicked in :ugh:
THE STUPID...IT BURNS
I hope he will eventually realize it wasn't 343i who made the maps. Putting 343i next to the Map Pack publishing info is just a technicality for Microsoft Games Studios. Just saying.
And any failing of 343i is Frankie's responsibility :mech2:
Seems nowhere is safe from this MLP bullshit. :smithicide:
I was unsure as to what you were referring to by MLP, so I made this image to help explain the definition my mind immediately went to:

That was my first thought too. I don't see a need to browse NeoGAF so I'm not up too date with this pony nonsense. But if it's bashing the asshats who run MLG and their immediate population, I'm down with it.
its not..its a bunch of 30 year old men who enjoy watching a show aimed at little girls...
its an infection thats claimed /b/ and /co/.../v/ shows signs of the infection but long term effects are unnoticeable
korn dont get roped into it...one single spore can infect an entire forum
what the fuck just happened to this thread :ohdear:
I'm just going to go with Freelancer's MLP.
It's in your forums, infecting your moderators. But this discussion is getting off-topic, so let me steer it back towards Halo:

Needs more kat. And kat butt. [/average reach player]
Looks like Modacity is turning into the new Halo Reach Forums on Bungie.net... *sigh*
I just looked a /co/. The horror. THE FUCKING HORROR!!!
More like System Restore but yeah.
So yeah people are now hitting Inheritor, the afker firefighters and boosters, sadly they haven't been banned yet.
That cloudspider and other dude were the only Inheritors on HC.com when I checked yesterday. They're still playing too heh
I don't really see the rush in getting to Inheritor. I mean, the Haunted Helmet is ugly and I would never use it so what's the point? I just wanna get to Mythic to get the last Gungnir attachment.
Personally I want the Legend emblem and stop at there. Inheritor emblem looks real queer.
So I played Reach for the first time with my little brother. Fun game, but I do have some gripes about it...
1. The way Kat died. So dumb.
2. 2 of your teammates die by suicide. Not right... Master Chief can take out a scarab but you can't... ?
3. You're the only one to survive to the end and you have no other missions so you just fight to the death. Come on, there's still humans on Reach, so there _HAS_ to be missions you can do, what a lame way to end the game.
4. of course all other Spartans died... I just wish they hadn't.
5. Hunters take 2 rockets to kill on normal. That shouldn't be possible.
6. You can flip a tank but you can't punch out a jackal and its shield in a melee... on normal.
7. Sprint is awesome.
2. Jun didn't die on screen, so he could still be alive. Halsey could also be caring his baby. Read about this and more in the next Forerunner saga book!
3. SIIIs are expendable.
7. Armor lock is also awesome
i still assert that hunters are stupidly tough on normal.
I feel that a single supercombine to the back should kill a Hunter because let's face it, you just blew out its "spine" in a big pulpy orange mess.
Personally I was glad that Hunters finally became an actual threat. They were complete pushovers in Halo 1, 2, and 3, provided you were properly equipped for them. Pistol or sniper in 1, sniper or beamer in 2, dual spikers in 3.
dual spikers were effective on hunters in halo 3? i usually just stand back and throw every grenade thats lying around on the floor, then shoot them in the back until theyre dead. i dont think i ever even played halo 3 all the way through on legendary
hunters in reach on legendary is just miserable, but at least thats on legendary. the fact that theyre so tough on normal just seems off to me.
You have to consider that these games take place in different periods of time which would explain the strength however, I don't really think this is a 'story' decision.
Reach hunters are just way too powerful to be fun to fight. Full of massive damage/one-hit kill/undodgeable BS like the rest of Reach. I preferred ODST's the most.
This.
Also Hunters need more AA like sprint, Armour lock or even....
....Jet packs.

I love the smell of Napalm in the morning...
Master Chief is a Spartan II, they were Spartan III's, except for Jorge. So they couldn't carry MC's jockstrap. Also I enjoyed Jorge's and Hasley's little moment when they first encountered in Reach. FUCK CARTER JORGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEADERQuote:

Jorge was pure muscle and a git-er-doner, not a leader
Not sure where you guys are in this convo, but how do you feel about MP? I personally cant stand:
1.Bloom
2.Armor Lock
3.The lack of variety of maps for matchmaking, in fact I think all of matchmaking is dissapointing
4.The loss of features in custom game options
5.There's more but my mind just went blank...
1. Yep, it sucks, but I still like the game.
2. I hate that people take it and think that it'll save them in a gunfight (if they lock, you just go behind them and wait, or chuck a grenade a second before they de-lock), but it's not as bad as the Active Camo's motion senser jamming.
3. Yup, needs MUCH more maps.
4. Whadda you mean, it has more than any other Halo game?
1.) I love it for Automatic weapons. It's only a pain for the DMR and NR though.
2.) Depends on the situation/game type. It's needed in some situations to prevent overpowered use of certain resources, but in others it's just obnoxious.
3.) The new map packs make this less, but I can see what you mean. I mainly think it's the overuse of the DMR is many gametypes as a starting weapon to be honest.
4.) Check again; it has the best custom-games options yet.
How does that make sense in any way...
How do make logic?
Let me make it simple for those that have apparently not even used those features in either games.
The numbers mean are relative and made up.
In Halo 3 you had 20 options but you could do 100 different things with those options.
In Reach you have 10 options and can do 50 different things with those options, but there are multiple categories of those 10 options allowing a wider array of what you can do, but leaving less that you can do within those parameters.
What does Halo 3 have that Reach doesn't in terms of options (besides a significantly simpler Forge menu)? Let's just start there.
http://emotibot.net/pix/228.jpg
All of those variant settings you see in Reach are defined by the game variant itself. Variants are no longer defined explicitly by the engine like in Halo 3 and earlier, but are instead scripted (in a sense). The designers expose the settings which can be tweaked and consumed by the variant's implementation. Slayer, CTF, Grifball, etc. They're all defined and implemented outside the engine code.
So yeah, Reach out does Halo 3's settings by a long shot, tyvm.
That doesn't mean a thing unless we can actually change them ourselves. What they actually give us is less than what they gave us before in each gametype separately.
e: even NoF admitted this at some point, but he is adding features that were lost and more back into the game
Um, you can change the settings yourself.
I just booted up Halo 3 and then I booted up Halo Reach. I compared their Slayer and CTF variant settings. Reach has more configurable settings. Eg, H3 Slayer didn't have traits which could be applied to the "leader" or in CTF, it didn't have traits which could be applied as a "cooldown" when you drop the flag. Reach also has more settings due to what's been added to the engine. Eg, loadouts (spartan vs elite), and AA.
Also, if you're going to quote an employee, you better take the time to find the quote.
Yeah but he was my favorite :(
Ridiculously tough... I mean, if a rocket can't take out a hunter in one shot... (on normal. A thing like that's fine on, say, heroic) I don't know what to say.
The way they worked the hunters was cheap. I'm playing on normal, not easy, so I want a bit of a challenge, but I don't want anything ridiculously dumb like a hunter surviving a rocket happening. I wish I could slap the person at Bungie who said it would be okay for a hunter to survive a shot like that on normal difficulty. They could have made the hunters more aggressive, not given him an implausible amount of health.
One word:
Shotgun.
... and then they back melee and kill you in one hit, or punch you as you run, and then their buddy loves to shoot you the second you get far enough away.
there are a lot of factors working against you here, not to mention that the shotgun takes a bunch of shots to kill one hunter, so when you run into 4 at the same time like on that one level in reach, you cant fuck up once or youre doing the whole thing over again.
Not me. Approach from an oblique angle to the back and they can't back-melee.
As for the nightclub, I just used the needle rifle. Worked very well.
Oh Exodus, how I love LASO on Exodus, can't wait for "The Package LASO"
Tried Reach firefight w/ bro last night: It's pretty cool. I'd like it a lot more if there was moar ODST Firefight maps
Bungie posted the Weekly, with info on May's matchmaking updates. No word on Firefight Arcade (enabling weapon pickup across the board or adding new gametypes to make up for it), so I can assume my former favorite playlist is still terrible. Whatever, farming turtles in Final Fantasy XIII for hours at a time is more fun anyway. At least Classic will finally get objective gametypes, but no word on removing that awful Rifles variant. Living Dead is getting bumped up to 12 players with Alpha Zombie traits enabled. Action Sack has some neat gametypes too (Splockets!).
I'm really liking the changes they're putting in the playlist update. It's about time they have shotty snipers, but there aren't enough small maps that will work well with it.
Duel sounds fun though, as long as it's swords.
They're just NOW implementing shotty snipers? On what maps? More reflection and sword base? No thanks. Highlands could be a good candidate for that, Hemorrhage always is/has been, Tempest could be.
Powerhouse would be a good map for shotty snipers. Actually, Powerhouse is a great map overall, one of the few maps that shipped with the game that I consider to really be good.
Powerhouse is more fun when the DMRs are gone. And I mean more so than other maps. It's insanely fun with no DMR weapons.
THIS TIMES ONE MILLION. DMR is just an off-balancing weapon on many maps. The NR is great because it has potential, but you can still avoid death. The Pistol requires skill at a decent range and without the DMR there's more room for reckless/chaotic/shenaniganic fun. That's my opinion, anyways.
I just read the weekly update. A lot of that stuff actually sounds fun, the inherent problem being on what maps. I've been meaning to pick up Reach again if not only for the "because all my friends play it" factor, but the new update might make it worth while.
Hog Potato in particular sounds fun. It seems like Bungie's is trying to go back to those wonky game types that made Halo...Halo.
I don't think I have played any DLC map, except for Anchor 9, in matchmaking. Unless it's the DLC playlist.
Edit: Just looked at the May playlist, and Ivory Tower is in Squad Battle? I'm assuming he meant Reflection?
Champ I do not know if you are right or not.
:( thnx anyway mayne
Hehe, I bet that made his day. It sure made mine seeing that :P
Does anyone else feel like friendly fire needs to be turned off? I've been betrayal booted twice today for explosive betrayals that killed at least two other enemies at the same time.
So for those of you who don't know, there's now a Reach demo available on XBL. Since I hadn't played Reach in a while, figured I'd try it out to refresh my memory. The demo includes Long Night of Solace (why that level?) as well as some generic Firefight and Slayer playlists. You play with other demo users, kind of like Halo Trial.
Unsurprisingly, all the things that made Reach such a mediocre multiplayer experience are still intact. Cross map DMR spam, double melee, sprint double melee, melee headshots, bad map designs, jetpacks, it's all there. Frankly I don't really see the purpose of releasing a demo at this point, anyone who was going to buy Reach has probably already bought it.
Since the beginning. Fuck friendly fire, Bungie's booting system is way too random and stupid anyway.
I heard about that, kind of pissed me off. What's the point of a demo this late in the game?
Omigosh it's Mrs Doublefire, and he made a map!
And an interview, too. I'm so torn. He's the guy who made New Mombasa Classic and inspired me to make maps of my own... and he made Heretic. Fucking Heretic. I hate that map. So much.
*shrug* I don't mind Heretic for crazy grenade spamfests. Of course, that might be bad gameplay, but if it's fun, then does it matter? Good to see the guy is still working on stuff though.
idk why theyre releasing a demo NOW, but at least this means i can play halo with my friend again.
If Heretic was all Anti-Gravity, like in Long Night of Solace, I think it would have been a pretty cool map. Granted, DMRs would be living hell, but with some additional, floating cover, it could've been nice. Then again, Bungie can't even fix Hemorrhage, so I doubt it would have mattered to begin with.
I do believe you all are confusing Heretic and Zealot
Heretic = Midship
Zealot = Shitship
You know how you fix Hemorrhage? Put the Scorpion back in, replace the plasma launcher with a Rocket Launcher, and put the Banshee where it belongs....
Put some rocket hogs in too for the hell of it, they might be effective against the banshees. Also, get rid of the obnoxious sniper camping spots at each end of the map and add some actual cover back in.
I don't understand all the Heretic hate personally. It's one of the few infantry based maps in Halo 3 that I actually had fun with. Sticky starts can fuck off though.
I hated all midshit variants up until Zealot
