Re: The Upcoming CoD: MW2
That settles it. It's mostly all hype and whatnot.
COD4 + things added on. Should really be an expansion pack like ODST (or whatever it was in the end).
Was going to buy it, but AC2 looks like it has more innovation and depth from the limited content out there, so going to buy next month.
Re: The Upcoming CoD: MW2
I still have some hope for the game, but I just don't see the point in spending $60 for it when it should be $50 (continues to beat the dead horse). I will be working the Gamestop midnight release for the game though.
Re: The Upcoming CoD: MW2
More bad news on the Modern Warfare front, this time coming from the console side.
First off, do you like hearing 12 year olds with squeaky voices scream and curse at you? No? Too bad. Infinity Ward apparently decided that we aren't allowed to use Party Chat in matchmaking anymore.
Second, while not directly related to MW2, modded rapid-fire controllers are a severe annoyance on Xbox Live, as they present a method of cheating that can't really be proven or prevented in any way. Yet microsoft is now licensing official versions of the god damned things?
At this point, even I've lost nearly all enthusiasm for this game.

Well, according to the various articles I've read, the idea is to prevent cheating via teammates calling out enemy locations to eachother. Seems to me though, they could prevent that much more effectively by restricting spectator camera modes to FP/Team only view (or just removing the spectator camera).
Re: The Upcoming CoD: MW2
That's what I figured as well, but removing party chat entirely is a pisspoor way of taking care of the problem here.
Seriously, what has gotten into IW's head?
E: Obviously this doesn't affect me since I wouldn't go after the console version anyway, but it's weird to see them taking away features like this. Hopefully they'll still let console players mute the annoying bastards.

It's a futile gesture anyway. Since my Xbox 360 is sitting here right next to my PC, I could just play the Xbox while still being in Ventrilo/TS with friends. There's no way that this is going to stop the really hardcore people from 'cheating' if they want to.
Re: The Upcoming CoD: MW2
How the hell is disabling party chat even an option for the developers? It should be completely unrelated to the game. Personally, I thought the current party chat system was just a fancy expansion of the private chat feature. Why doesn't it appear to the game the same way for both?
Fuck this game.
Edit: Looks like you get a message from the Xbox dash that says you must be in the "game channel." Why the fuck did Microsoft do that...idiots.
(btw, watch IW make a patch to allow party chat, but you'll still never see dedis on the PC)
Re: The Upcoming CoD: MW2
Yes, because these cheaters are going to put their hands up and say "you got us now infinity ward", as they are just going to move on to things like teamspeak and ventrilo.
