What kind of suit is bomb proof and uses shields?

A shielded, bomb-proof hazard suit. Used in areas where resonance cascades and dimensional rifts are possible. Even then, Gordon must have hated the suit. He lost the helmet.

The helmet looked totally gay anyway. If I were Gordon I would have thought "gee, I'm in the midst of an alien invasion. On the one hand, I could really use armor over my head to protect myself from those headcrab things. On the other hand, this is my one chance to look totally badass! I think my decision is clear."

The Chief isn't a hero, he's a soldier. He does what he does because he's ordered too or because it's the right thing to do.
