Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
i hope you finish that wip that you posted, it could be a great learning experience if you pull through with it.
my knowledge of the face sucks balls as well, as you can see, but i hope i get some sort of point across with this paintover.

Envision the head in a cube, and work accordingly.
don't be afraid of looking for or even making your own reference for this head angle, it's one of the more challenging angles to draw x__x so, no shame.
with that said. I'd like you to meet my good friend andrew loomis.
though you're on CA, so you probably know him well by know, right?
i have a handful of suggestions for the position of the chest and arm-- you're pushing front view when the arm's telling me it's rotated more toward the figure's right.
what I think snafu is suggesting is correct-- a solution for something like this is grounded in life drawing and anatomy study. draw people in photos and irl to gain an understanding of how forms work, then anatomy to really know how the muscles function.
like i said. promising wip. I'd love to see your sb on ca to give crits and see how you progress.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Eh, there's just so much wrong with it, I think it's better to just wipe the slate clean and move on. Currently I am just working in traditional as I enjoy it more, partly because of the control I have that I can not get with my old shitty tablet.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
yeah. i can agree with you there.
trying to tackle both trad and digi at the same time, while learning the basics of painting.
it's tough shit.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Ah the drawing I have got down fine :downs:
Just really trying to make myself well rounded, or enough so that I can get into a good art school to learn, currently teaching myself water color.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
looks like you've got an okay drawing technique down, but i suggest you study basic proportion and light, not only in figures and portraits, but in anything else that you draw.
try studying from life, if you're not doing it already. and post it.
I'm looking forward to giving feedback for what you paint with watercolor.
by the way, is there any school that you have in mind? where do you plan to apply?
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
Ah thanks, and no, to be honest I have no idea about what art schools I am going to be attending. I do draw from life, but I do not have a scanner to post, only a crappy camera. Fourtnately I got some new equipment over xmas so I can now do much nicer shading, and the pencil sketches from further back do not reflect my skill at all. Any help will be appreciated though.
Re: [GALLERY] Chains' Scribbles
like i said. happy to help.
but i can't crit what i can't see.

Ill try to get my best works up slowly, though 2 of them are at my gpas, they also happen to be my fav.... :smith:
