Re: James Cameron's AVATAR
Just got done with it as well, I must say excellent story. This was one of those movies where i really didn't want to see it but, it would have been a mistake not to have. The special effects are out of this world, especially in 3D. fantastic visuals, captivating characters(or i thought they were anyway), all around good show.

Did you honestly just say that District 9 was more of a technical/cinematic achievement than Lord of the Rings?
Kindly step outside :maddowns:

Even 4chan produced better trolls than those gremlins in LOTR.:allears:
Joking aside.
Read this and this if you want to learn a thing or two on it.
I found the 30 million budget rather interesting.
As much as i liked LOTR, district 9 takes the prize for me.
Re: James Cameron's AVATAR
First LOTR movie kind of made enough profit that covered the costs for all three movies. lul. Avatar is gun b awesome

I love LotR, and District 9. I'll say that Lord of the Rings pioneered massive battles, but even now some of the special effects are starting to look a little dated. :( D9 mastered mixing CG with live action, so you couldn't tell the aliens weren't real.
Avatar just perfected both, and for that I consider it incredible. Half the movie I was trying to figure out what was CG and what wasn't, and eventually I gave up. Then I realized 95% of it was CG. And jawdropped. Plus, Weta was in the end credits, so their special effects house contributed. And D9 wasn't in 3d. Believe me, it makes a difference, especially with the new technology.
