Broader shoulders would actually make it look more like a woman.
Chains, his arms are too short. They should be long enough so that if he's standing straight, the fingertips will end up around the middle of the outer thigh, about five (to scale) inches from the knee, by my measurements.
Ok, I will keep that in mind, the armor made it hard for me to properly lengthen or shorten the arms (they started out longer) because I drew them in after the main body (I am sofa king we-tar-ed)
we todd ed is what you were going for.
They do. But proportionately, women's shoulders are broader. It's part of that elusive "hour glass figure." :haw:
Ah, I was confused but that cleared it up lol.
:smith: Anyway have any concept art jobs? Will concept for food..
also +rep is appreciated if you enjoy my art. You don't have to, but yea, you have to.
Couldn't remember if I had repped you for the airport one or not, so I did it again anyways. :v:
So yea, had 15 minutes to spare to do a material + value study on a shottie. (gtfo off my cock about the gun, I had to do one from my mind since schools don't appreciate people looking up guns on their computers)
Also the camera made the pic blurry, tried to at least somewhat sharpen it and well.... :suicide:

As far as materials and values go, the front is ok. Everything after that is "meh". I can't tell if you used a straight edge or not (too blurry, looks like you didn't), but if not, you should.
Also, no locking mechanism...:haw:. =þ

It's the pictuureee. :( In the actual sketchbook everything looks how it is supposed to!
Get a sca--oh yeah.
I remember everybody used to think that I'd get in serious trouble for drawing guns in school. Never once was I stopped for drawing guns and weapons.
study more anatomy.
no more excuses.
Fine :(
edit- I can get certain anatomy studies done, but it's hard to explain to people why I am drawing scantily clad or naked people in a book (especially my parents)
Say you like men and give them a serious face. They'll probably leave you alone for a little while.
why the fuck do you need to explain?
aren't you a sexually tense little teenage boy? that can be reason enough for your fascination with nekkid peeps.
anywho. less talk more studies. dammit.
I don't like how this one turned out, but since it took up some time today (25 min) I guess it deserves enough love to be shown.
(mustache and eye patch error hiders go!)
Also lips make me sad face.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/100_6996.jpg
Or tell them you are studying anatomy to draw better :downs:
Either crop your images or use shot tags please.
:allears:How do I use shot tags?
edit -but fine.
What do you think, and anyways if you read the edit I said fine to him. :raise:
he isn't cool enough to be blind.
My nuts....they hurt..
it looks like you're trying to be bapsi
i mean that in whatever way makes you happiest
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
But no, here is a list of differences:
-She likes pens
-she seems to have a cultural style leaning towards asian art
-She uses designs that flow with her images to certain points
- She has a very quick cross hatch style
In other words, yes I have studied her works and she is an inspiration, but here is my style, which is less then hers:
- Simplified single drawings, never tend to do more then one drawing per page.
- I love greek and roman art
- I use a mechanical pencil and use small cross hatches that build up one another and go in one direction to create light, basically a much slower and time consuming version of bapsi's.
So yes, I have learned a shit load from her, and I can easily say that. I am not, however trying to be her. I want to express what I see in my own way and if it involves implementing a piece of someone else's style, then there is nothing wrong with that boba. Each style is a pickings of styles from previous artists who made a large impact on your life. Hope that clears up any confusion you have boba, any crit on the actual work though might be helpful and would be appreciated as apposed to this session of me helping you. :)
cute :allears:
Im gonna tell her.
She can probably see herself, the thread is 3 above hers :eng101:
Where can I get your drawing confidence? Even though you know something isn't right, you finish it anyways, consider it practise, and move on...I can't do that. D:
Oh trust me, I leave thousands of sketches undone. Every artist at one point or another in a piece has doubts about how it looks. Regardless you should get into the habit of pushing through, because the overall final piece could look better then you thought.
It's more of relaxing and drawing what you want to draw and not thinking " Oh I have to draw this perfectly and nicely s I can post it online and not get flamed"
Basically, yeah, for the last part. Perfectionism is both a blessing and a curse...
So yea, starting to get into 3d since I love clay, got zbrush today and I love it:

Forgot to ask, would anyone be willing to let me send them this head so they could model basic armor on it? In turn I would go through it in zbrush and texture it and make it all purty on a plaque and give it back. :iamafag:
Rearranging of details:

why does that elite have massive facial herpes?
That's what generally happens after someone eats out your mom heathen, it will go away eventaully. shit questions get you shit answers
To be fair, it does look more like a Flood-infected Elite than a true live one.
I think it's more because of the material I am using highlights and accents all marks to show off detail.. So it gets glossy, wet look plus because of the shadowing it makes everything look alot deeper then it's meant to be, including the neck veins. I have already applied part of the base texture and it looks much nicer now.
-but of course I took artistic license and since people are used to the smooth skin, non scary elites, I can see how small spikes could come off more as boils or degraded skin since that's what we associate with the flood.
edit- which is why in the touch up the neck is far less bubbly then in the previous screenshots.
Basic shape for the armor, note that this is not the chest but merely the area that the shoulders would come out. Everything below that will be flat cut and put on the plaque.

Locus/Elite? Looks nice, I wanna get into doing this. Im looking forward to seeing this baked onto a lowerpoly :P
I have gotton bored of modeling and out of the phase. Lmao. I think they are over for now.
LOL has got more growths on its face than your average mirror. Try and create an 'elite skin' stamp and do another once you've done that. I like how you've started to flesh teh body out... just dont make that a growthfest :P
I like my more realistic, scary elite then the stupid cute ones in h3. :saddowns:
I took some artistic license, I want it to be fuck all ugly so when you shoot at it you're not like "lol elites" you're like OMFGWTFISTHATSHITGETITAWAYFROMMEHOLYSHITRUN.
Nah just looks like Locust crustation face... make a custom scale stamp :) that'd be artistic license
Elites are reptiles (I think, somebody correct me if I'm wrong)...make him look reptillian.
If you gave an elite a custom muzzle, I bet it'd give amazing head. Like Dr Zoidburg on that shiz.
-On topic. Elite's do look reptile inspired (their eyes)... make it a gnarly custom scale stamp then clean the neck up and stamp that bad boy up.
I'd move to Unreal or a similar engine if those elite heads were put ingame, along with re-done flood and MC.
I am working in Unreal with some buds. Also Malloy I might make a custom stamp, but in the end I enjoy how it looks so get over it.
edit- oh what the fuck malloy half your sentences do not make sense either, I am trying to decipher the dr zoidberg one I have no clue what you are saying there holy shit.
He's insinuating that you should redo their mandibles so they'd be better at oral sex.
Settle down, m00kz...
Oh he edited it. To be honest I like the idea of not doing that because well.. it is fucking creepy.
Also... I dont remember editting my message. L2 cover up your bad reading better :D
O.T : I wasn't really under anything to get over in the first place... I just suggested maybe you made something a lil less lookalike to modern contemporary art (shit thrown on a canvas). But it'l look sweet either way.
Make his neck longer, I think it will look better :)
So to shut malloy and his creepy fetishes up, I have revised pretty much everything on the elite. I still have to fix the throat up and I am aware of it.

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...hains1/oro.jpg
Looking much better. The biggest gripe I might have is that the neck is too thick front to back. If it were thinner, it might actually look a bit scarier.
Ok, I might slim it down
Chains, you should make something else other than self portraits tbh. :)
What a shitty attempt at humor you little taint licker, i will fucking destroy you then tea bag your fucking remains.
This is my house.
Cool, skin/scale shizz looks much better :)
In the most non-aggressive way possible, I think you should try a comic book style of art, just for the hell of it. Dick around, have fun with art, see what you can create!
Mookz, I am not oblivious nor a fool what is your ulterior motive for me to do that.
I think you should start painting on cave walls symbols of men stabbing cows with arrows. Whats my ulterior motive chains?
Comic books are win and comic artists are indeed win as well. Stfu and take his advice, sir.
Alternatively, if you aren't already, go to school for this shit so you can get a job as a concept artist or similar.
He enjoys comic book art is trying to learn it, so I feel he wants something out of me doing that.
Anyways I plan on going to art school, but I have to wait till I graduate from high school, I am only a sophomore.
Anyways a progress of a quick sketch, no references used, I need to fix up the fold on the right pec, it should be there:

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...ins1/final.png
Oh shit son, I thought you were around my age.
I intend to switch majors from Engineering to something art-related...my only misgivings are about how much money I can make with a career in that field.
You can make a lot if you work hard and make a name for yourself.
Fuck i need to fix the jawline. Also the mouth I am extending it more then usual in a joker esque style.
And that is where the line gets fuzzy. That is much easier said than done, and even people who have a name don't necessarily rake in that much. Let's just say I have lots of things I want to do unrelated to my choice of career path that involve not insubstantial amounts of capital.
Write ye a webcomic with a thoughtful story, work a job pending its success, then live on reader donations. I plan to start one at some point, but I need to find a premise I'm comfortable with, and that I can mesh with and enjoy working on before I can have any hope of sustaining it, let alone any hope for reader support. However, I'm confident that if I do enjoy working on the story and doing the art, success will come eventually. Not that I'm counting on it.
Well, I have a major story going for many years, but I wanted to turn that into a series of books/videogame(s)/serious animated cartoon (anime?), not a comic strip. I need to learn some more artistic skills because right now I'm extremely hampered by my abilities...mind is pacing faster than the hand can learn and draw. I really want to apply to DigiPen after my stint here at the community college is over, but the uncertainty about landing jobs in the gaming industry, let alone with a good company, stays my application because DigiPen is a vocational school; I can't really apply what I would learn there to much else and it will drain my bank account.
You people willing to take the plunge, I salute you. Have more guts than I do!
I use comic as a catch-all term for any story in which illustration is the method of conveyance. Also, the whole mind pacing faster than you can draw thing is normal. Professional cartoonists just hide it really well. Andrew Hussie of MSPA, for instance, has said that he is completely surprised at his success. Jeph Jacques of QC has also said he has no idea why people like his work, they just do. If you've got a developing idea, put it on paper and wing it. Of course this is all easy for me to say, but I've still had a hard time not putting successful artists on a pedestal and assuming that I could never do as well.
If you've got aspirations for a graphic novel or something like that, doing a regular comic is good practice. It helps you test and develop your skills in the medium, and can build a base of fans for when you finally do decide to look at writing something really serious.
I'll give that a try, thanks for the inspiration! I just hope that my perfectionist attitude doesn't get the better of me and force me to stop because it deems what I'm doing not good enough. :gonk:
To be honest, I've been in a depressed state for the past several years, and it's really taken its toll on my will to create...I've been trying to climb back up for awhile now.
[/gush]
My medium of choice for practice is an MSPA forum adventure. You don't have to worry much about where to take the story in the early bits, since actions are user suggested. Finally got around to linking mine in my sig.
Uh, yeah. [/hijack]
I've been following. It's pretty lulzy, actually.
By nature though, I'm not a very light-hearted person when it comes to creating things; I'm a sucker for the deep, angsty, or epic stuff. My current medium of practise is primarily character and ship concepts. I'm rarely happy enough with what I do to actually post it up anywhere, and even by my standard what I do post up is not as good as I know I could have done it...it's sad when you know you drew better three years ago than you do now, on a relative scale.
Please look at the thread name.
Please take note it says my gallery.
The Emotional Similarity and Man Love thread is that way ---->
Think of it this way:
You were the inspiration.
:D
Ill just post this here, but feel free to post it in anyones doodle gallery guys. Dont know how useful it is.

Very nice find, I can actually use this. +rep.
Deviant Art these days seems to be a spam of anime and Pimp My Gun models...
neat find. this tut gives a really nice run through of anatomical basics. :D
too bad chainsy's...banned or something.
Huh? I thought he brought himself up as a proper member of the community. I don't check this site often enough, I guess.
So I have been artistically lazy recently and it has made me feel extremely guilty, so I decided to warm up today with a random doodle. Hopefully I can gain back the small amount of skill I once posessed. :smith: Also the camera killed my values and I do not have photoshop to correct it...such beautiful blacks within blacks defiled by this cam whore camera! DAMN YOU NIKON COOLPIX!!!!!!
Also torso is a bit big, but I am just going to blame it on the hoody and say it's really, REALLY baggy. The camera makes it appear even more misproportioned because of the upper angel I took it at, making the top part closer and thus, seem bigger.
Anyways enough excuses!!
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/DSCN0263.jpg
His lower legs are a little stubby.
Hm....Quote:

I agree, and yes I will try to get a better picture!
I have come into possesion of a scanner, but am lacking room to put it somewhere as we have an OCD occupant in the house.
use scanner, unplug, put away.
and personally, i think the short legs and lowered waistline can work if other parts of the figure were pushed as well--like a larger head, or bigger hands or something.
Well it's not that simple as to plug it up and unplug it, as I have no where to set it and it is very bulky.
On the subject of making it more stylized cartoony I agree it would be a good idea but I feel I should be able to make proper anatomy before moving onto that. Doing the above just makes me feel lazy.
