I'm curious as to how that would work since lift is the only reason planes fly, and speed only comes in (as far as controlled flight is concerned) as a facilitator of lift...
The treadmill's motion can not keep the plane from moving forward as it only applies any force at the wheels, which are independent from the forward force of the props / jets. The wheels will just rotate faster.
E: the helicopter shouldn't move because it's in the opposite position, the turntable /does/ apply force to the rotors.

Yeah. A/C wheels spin freely. I'm a fucking idiot, the treadmill would have no effect on the plane.

It was so long ago that the post has been pruned out of the active forum (maybe it exists in some archive somewhere?), but I made exactly this same post for exactly this same argument. I felt dumb too. :saddowns:
