Nah, trust me there are places like that.
The second one MAYBE, but reflections are never that clean...and with that much light, the shadows would be sharper right?
The first one is really obvious, but the second one looks extremely close to photorealistic. It looks like the lighting technique turned out a bit grainy? But if I didn't know it were a render, I'd mistake that for just a grainy photograph.
fake e: it's the windows that give it away in the second photo. Damn. Still waiting for a truly photorealistic render. Looks like we're close.
fake ee: still waiting to see one- it may be out there, but all the renders I've seen have something in them somewhere that give them away, be it even a tiny detail in the reflection.
I have some real good photorealistic company work from a buddy of mine, I just have to find where I saved them. Will post as soon as I find them.
@dane's pic: Yeah, that's pretty damn good alright. The floor and the newspaper/magazine look off to me, but at this point I'd say I'm reaching for straws- there are real things that look faker than that, know what I mean?
e: oh you posted two. That second one, the one with the wet pavement- the pavement is way too perfect where it isn't cracked, and also the building on the far left has a pretty obviously fake interior. That pic looks unfinished, tho- with a little more work it would be a lot harder to poke holes in it.
Wait, aside from its obvious awesomeness, why are we discussing this in the OT pictures thread?
I have an idea- how about a "render or real?" thread? You go ahead and start it, Dane, cause I wouldn't know where to begin.
Damn, that is good. I love the reflections of the floor on the wall.

Is that last "Probably not a god" thing Albert Einstein? Because I remember him saying something along the lines of "I refuse to believe that God plays dice", in response to quantum physics.
Also, best comeback ever, this other scientist responded: "Don'
t tell God how to use his dice."
