Re: Modacity BC2 Platoon (BC2 $6.79 on Steam TODAY ONLY!)
Gentlemen, i had a revelation today. i both signed up for steam and purchased this game. at the same time i realized that i can get deals like every bethesda game since morrowind for like 70 bucks (and my friend just bought new vegas on his 360 for 60 bucks). i am now sure that pc gaming is wholly superior to console gaming. i have seen the light.
on that note, my steam id is TheKillerDonut. im still downloading the game. im on eastern standard time, pretty sure thats GMT -5

Jesus, what have you be waiting to get Steam for? They have the best deals in gaming.
We need your BC2 ID once you download and create an EA account. May I suggest your BC2 Persona be named TheKillerDonut?

My soldier ID is SmokePants. I still have to get up to speed on the game, though. I've played other BF games, just not a Bad Company. Vietnam is tempting, because at least I'd be on somewhat equal footing. I'm not bothered by the price. I paid $15 for BF1943 and felt it was worth it.

Don't be fooled! Vietnam does not set you on equal footing with anything! Vietnam is a completely separate part of the game. You will have to level up and unlock stuff by yourself in BC2. There are no shortcuts...anymore. Vietnam is an overpriced "expansion" pack from EA. It's half a money grab. It's fun, but there's not enough content to keep you occupied for more than a couple hours.

I really like the idea of adding an "expansion" the way they did though. It's more than a map pack but not a full game in itself, if they had added a mini campaign or something along that line it would have been awesome.

I know it's separate, that's what I meant by equal footing. Everybody else would be starting out, just like I would be.
BF1943 was only 3-1/2 maps, based on maps I had already played, and it kept me entertained for 6 weeks, which is about as long as multiplayer game can keep my attention. From what I've heard about Vietnam, it has more content than 1943 and it's good. And it's new and fresh, whereas it's kind of intimidating jumping into a game that people have been playing for 9 months.
I haven't made up my mind yet, though.
Re: Modacity BC2 Platoon (BC2 $6.79 on Steam TODAY ONLY!)
cool so this game apparently doesnt work on my computer. it crashes right as i start the campaign when it asks me to use my mouse to look around. im a little disappointed. i set everything on low too.
E: multiplayer doesnt work either. NOW i remember why i play new games on my 360. my computer cant run them.
with multiplayer the game acts like its loading, then the loading screen dims (slowly), then the game crashes. any ideas anyone?
Re: Modacity BC2 Platoon (BC2 $6.79 on Steam TODAY ONLY!)
Google does great for that. First though, make sure you've got only one sound driver installed. And you really should have a tricore or quad core processor for this game. It's pretty much coded for those. Anything less and it won't run that well. Single core, forget it.
Re: Modacity BC2 Platoon (BC2 $6.79 on Steam TODAY ONLY!)
Pyong bought(loaned the money) me this, can't play till tomorrow though. Will my computer be able to run it good (specs on my page, and getting more ram and psu wednesday)?
Re: Modacity BC2 Platoon (BC2 $6.79 on Steam TODAY ONLY!)
Works fine for me and I built my PC in mid 2007. It was a price/performance build with no top-of-the-line parts, either.
I'm finding single-player to be boring. Should I skip it and focus on multiplayer?
