World Eaters rule! Totaly better than Iron Warriors anyway.
So, not that long ago, I decided to get into Warhammer 40k by buying myself a battleset (a couple of friends did the same). I bought a Chaos Space Marines battleset, while they bought Space Wolves and Dark Angles. I was stuck between the World Eaters and Warriors of Mayhem, but eventually sided with the most bloodthirsty, crazy, insane Space Marines around. So, after assembling all my guys, I noticed that my army didn't reach up to the 1000 points that we were planning on using for our games. What could I get that would fix the problem? That's when it occurred to me : a Chaos Dreadnought! So, I hauled my ass back to Games Workshop, only to realize that the Chaos Dreadnought is a metal model. Seeing as how I've never assembled metal models before, the guy there recommended that I buy a regular Space Marine Dreadnought and convert it to Chaos with little bits and pieces from the battleset. So, I happily went home with a new Venerable Dreadnought friend, which I proceeded to force to join the Dark Side. My friend then got a nice Chaos Terminator Champion from a friend of his who was no longer into Warhammer (it wasn't painted or assembled), and since he didn't need it due to him having Dark Angles, he gave it to me for free, yay! Seeing as how I had no HQ unit, he was to be my new Chaos Lord, who finally brought me to 998 points.
A few weeks later, we got together and played a few games. I won a some, lost some, it was all great fun. However, I felt there was something missing from my army, something that could destroy anything in it's path from a mile away Seeing as how my Khorne Bezerkers failed me terribly during my games, this new guy needed to be able to kick ass in melee as well. But kind of Chaos unit could do such a thing while being extremely badass at the same time? Of course, the answer was obvious : Chaos Defiler! Now my army is complete (for the moment), so here's a few looks at what I have so far :
P.S : Sorry for the mediocre quality of some of the shots, I'm not that great of a photographer.
Boxes!
My finished models (Even though it says that they are finished, some of them still require a few touch ups here and there)

Chaos Space Marines
Aspiring Champion
Khorne Icon Bearer
My Chaos Space Marines squad so far
Khorne Bezerker Skull Champion (I am aware that helmet makes no sense on a Khorne Bezerker, but I thought it looked cool)

Possessed Squad so far
Chaos Terminator Lord
Chaos Dreadnought
Chaos Rhino (my first assembled and painted)
My army so far

Custom Chapters > Canon Chapters
Anyways, they'll look fine from a distance. Up close you can really see where the paint has passed over the armor's features and hit the armor itself. You'll get better at this the more you paint, though.

Yeah, that's what I meant by touch ups. The Dreadnought is definitely the worst when it comes to those mistakes, as well as the first Chaos Space Marine on the left in the second picture. Oh, and I should also point out that the Icon Bearer also has a pretty nasty red mark on his left horn.
Yeah, I know I'm pointing out my mistakes, but it's to show that I'm aware of some of my mistakes. Thanks for the criticism though! I appreciate it.
EDIT : And yeah, I was planning on maybe doing a custom warband, but I decided to stick with a canon one to start and get better at it. I'll most likely do a custom one for my next army.

D: Shame. My friend matt runs nids, and they're fucking terrifying. He's running a mawloc. :3

Oh, I've heard horror stories of people playing against them. Supposedly there's something called an Uberfex that's basically am Uber Carnifex that has like 5 wounds and has the possibility of healing a wound every turn. Oh, and did I mention that it could climb walls too?
Again, before I bought my Codex, I was debating over Nids or Chaos Space Marines.

Re: World Eaters rule! Totaly better than Iron Warriors anyway.
Sorry for the double post, but here's a little update as of this morning. If you haven't noticed the changes, I added a coat of blood red paint on the dark red that was already there, and then added some gold trim around a few areas. I also started putting a bit of dark gray at the back there.
I've done a lot more work since then which includes fixing bad painting at some areas shown in this pictures as well as painting new areas, but it's too dark to take a good picture. Perhaps sometime tomorrow after I do more work. Oh, and the first post has been updated with this picture too.
As always, comments and criticism is always appreciated!

Wait, so your group is Marines Marines and Marines?
How boring :mech:
Still, at least all your armies have a sound canonical reason to fight each other :iamafag:
As for the models, they're great for a first-timer. I really think you should check out the badab black/devlan mud washes. GW infuses them with some kind of freaky voodoo that makes everything (especially non-highlighted flat surfaced models like yours) look much better. They're great for beginners (no disrespect) and people more interested in having a presentible army for gaming than individual masterpeices that take 3 hours each. Slap that shit all over your model and you'll see what I mean. (Use the GW freebies first on your test model before buying, I'm not sure which would go better with the word bearers, just ask them) reference, reference.
Also, why can't you play at your GW? Should be plenty of other people there looking for a game.
(even if they are 12)

I might get into this now. Not to play the game or anything, just to buy really nice models and give them a high end paint job then sell them back to people for a higher price. Profit.
