Question about H2V map files
Ok, so we all here know that there are programs used to open map files for the different version of the Halo series(i.e. Halo Xbox/PC/CE and Halo 2 Xbox). I was just wondering how long before the community figures out a way of opening the H2V maps via a program. Kinda like how ADI was for H2X and HMT for Halo PC. Is it as simple as changing some lines of code in ADI so it can read Halo 2 Vista maps? Im not saying that I would/could do this. I wonder if someone is working on a program that can do this(other than Prom). We will have another 3-4 years to have one capable of doing this though. :D
Re: Question about H2V map files
Why would we want a program that does that? We have a tool set even if it is gimped.

Well, because there are two different types of modding. One is map making, and the other is modification of a map files. Modification of map files is how every Halo has started out when it comes to modding. That is how every new modder learns how to mod. That is what interests every new modder in getting better at modding and moving to map making. I personally am just working on my modeling skill so I can create maps. I am just wondering for the new people who want to learn to do the easier modding.
Not every person has 3ds max or the means to get it.
As for the tools being gimped; they are not gimped to some. Some people use what they have and create better things than what could be thought possible with the tools. Just wait. :)
Re: Question about H2V map files
I can already open the maps i also got very simple tag extraction/injection.

You might as well. It cant do anything to hurt the community. Just remember to post it in the release section if you do.
Re: Question about H2V map files
Not everyone starts with "modding". Especially because a map editor is included with the game. Most people won't even know there is another way to do it. As for the tools being gimped, they are gimped no matter how you put it. Some people don't care about features not included, but some people do. As a whole, the toolset it gimped.
Re: Question about H2V map files
By the way, no its not as easy as changing 1 line of code in this ADI you talk about :P

Yea, I kinda figured that. Kind of a sarcastic question. :p
As for your statement Chewy Gumball, a map editor isnt fully included. Like I said, most people dont have 3ds max and dont have the means to get it. If they do have it, then they will search for tutorials or help on how to make a map. They could find the HMT of H2V and decide to start modding with that.
Re: Question about H2V map files
Please, no HMT apps for H2v maps. Spend your time figuring out how to unlock guerilla.
