Can't save games in SPV1? Look here.

I've seen an increasing number of new CMT players who discovered CMT long after the old forums went down. A couple of them appear to be perplexed by the inability to continue a CMT level from the last checkpoint.

This is not the UI's fault - no UI will change this fact. It is the map's fault, because it doesn't seem to link properly to the UI.

Your first order of business is enabling the console. Edit the "Halo Custom Edition" shortcut on your desktop to show the target line:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe" -console

Now, let's say you're playing the Maw. You save a checkpoint, quit CE, go eat lunch, and come back. But instead of restarting the level, press the "~" key to bring up the console, and type in map_name d40 and this will load the level from the last checkpoint.

So whenever you want to continue from where you left off, you have to type in a console command. The commands to type in:

Pillar of autumn - map_name a10
Halo - map_name a30
Truth and Reconciliation - map_name a50
Silent Cartographer - map_name b30
Assault on Control Room - map_name b40
343 Guilty Spark - map_name c10
The Library - map_name c20
Two Betrayals - map_name c40
Keyes - map_name d20
Maw - map_name d40

Remember, before you quit the CMT level, save the last checkpoint, otherwise you can't load it when you want to continue your game.

Hope this helps. Masters or jCap, you might want to update the FAQ until the SPv2 is finally released...and I'm not bugging you for a specific date, but please show something before the end of this year's summer, so that we won't go back to school all disappointed like last year...

thanks, but when i try to open the console it doesnt work. i click on haloce.exe and when it loads press tilde, but it doesnt work.

Make sure you modified the tagline correctly. It's a common mistake.

awesome! But I thought it was an error with the map encryption designed to stop ppl from ripping things...

ah well it's good to know it is so easy to fix. :D Time to go play it again I guess!

It is an error with the map encryption. The encryption screwed up the maps' ability to link to the UI.

No wonder... And here I thought it was just me being a CE noob :)

And what happened was the encryption kept the respective maps from creating a saved game file. If you've already got a saved game file, you have nothing to worry about. That's how the problem was never seen before it was released.

Wait, so your allowed to bump topics that are stickys?

Well, I just thought that the same rules applied for every topic. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Bumping means taking something wayyyy old and bringing it to the front. If it is already up front you can't bump it.

well why wouldnt u be aloud to bump stickys i mean there already on top of the page lol common sense which i seem to lack in CTF went to the other teams base with their flag oops.

I was ignorant about that, and now I know that there's nothing wrong about bumping stickies. So now we can stop talking about this and get back on to topic.

didn't work for me. I typed map_name c40 to load my checkpoint on "two betrayals" and it still started at beginning of the level. I made sure I clicked the "save checkpoint" button before I quit last night :(

That happened to me before. In that case, when you're starting for the first time, use the console to load the map.

It should work after that.
