Modacity.net gets a TF2 Server!

That's right kiddies, we are now running a TF2 server on this box!

Open up your Steam server browser, and search for servers on Modacity.net. Add the Modacity.net :awesome:box to your favs and get going!

Our mapcycle is shown here, which is also the MOTD that appears in-game. Our aim is to throw community-made maps into the mapcycle, so if you want 15 minutes of pseudo-fame, get banging your Hammers.

We are running the server with SourceMod, and I've added a modified quakesounds plugin to get it to work 100% with TF2, use the Halo 2 announcer (thanks to Choking Victim for the sounds), and be less FUCKING ANNOYING by only announcing to the players who make headshots, backstabs, and multikills (killing sprees still play to everyone). Please consider turning on sound autodownloads in your options menu.

I'm considering adding more plugins in the future as well as perhaps making my own. I plan on adding an IRC Relay next. No, I will not take suggestions as to what to add.

Except that you can never rely on the Steam server browser to find a specific server, ever. I'm only getting 80-90 TF2 servers in the server browsers with no filters. And even if you get a healthy amount of servers to load, you have to sort through over 1k of them to find a simple name. Going by IP is so much simpler.

The IP is 75.125.176.202:27015. Add it to your favorites!

I'm used to 24+ player games, so the sparseness is a little discouraging, but w/e. Maybe we can organize a big game sometime.

I die a little inside whenever I tell tell people I installed the dedicated server on the same box as the website, and then they ask me for the IP.

Uh, searching for modacity.net does nothing. At least, for me, it doesn't. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I think that's what you mean.

The Source server browser is kinda flaky, and the best way to get people on a server is to just state the IP.

I just go into TF2, go to the server browser and click on 'Server name' or whatever at the top so it organizes them alphabetically. Then, I just look for the M's and find Modacity.

It didn't find it for me either, I just joined it off you guys and added it to faves.

...you don't use an http:// prefix. That prefix tells the client to search for things on port 80. Obviously, our Source DS does not operate on port 80.

Look at the examples in the server finder. Do you see an http anywhere?

I used http://www, www, and no prefix, as shown in my picture. I've never had to add a server by domain name before, just IP, but I made sure to try most variants of the domain name to see if it would work, and it didn't.

Also, it's just "modacity.net" that's it, nothing more. Of course without the quotes.

Mainly because everyone with a Source game can play.

I'm cool with TF2 though. We just need people to join the server moar.

There should be some sort of tf2 server thing on the front page too.

The first time I tried searching modacity.net in the server browser it didn't show up. The second time I tried doing it, it found it and I bookmarked it like that. I'm glad this thing is finally up! You guys better use it ;-)

Steel's alright it's very complex but it grows on ya.
first time i played it i was utterly confused and lost, bout the 5 time round though i got some really good games on it, it's a good map if everyone knows where they're sposed to go.

I can't join through direct IP. What's going on?

No ones in it unless one of us is in it, just join off of a friend's steam.

i can find it by IP but it won't add to favorites and doesn't show up in the main server browser :smith:
