So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
They teased at some new stuff happening for HPC. They said they we should hold onto our Halo PC CD keys. Something might be happening in the near future.
KMZZPP EDIT:

Link to podcast???
Maybe free Halo 3 PC beta for people who own Halo 1???

Heh, that's cool. I like how Halo PC is unsupported yet we get a little nod from them every now and then.

Exciting! D/Ling podcast now.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
There are only two possibilities I see:
- Something related to Halo 3 PC. But that's highly unlikely: they'd give that right to H2V owners, and it's already been said that we wouldn't see H3PC for years.
- GPL'ing Blam! as they did Marathon's engine before it. But that's highly unlikely as well: It wouldn't involve the CD key at all.
So it's something I could never guess.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I don't even know what to think...
Also, what FAB said above me. Maybe they meant Halo 2 PC, not even thinking of Halo 1? They should give H3 away as a free upgrade to H2V...fucking waste.
Downloading now.
Well they were specifically talking about Halo 1 PC, making all the references to Gearbox.

Upgrading the engine with a new version of the game?
And to install it you would need your key? Doubt it. But whatever it is, it better be good. :P

Re-releasing Halo PC with Halo CE combined?
Existing owners get it free? Only thing I can think of that would make any real sense...

You paid for Halo CE? Someone ripped you off.

I doubt it's going to be any sort of update. My money is on "enter your Halo-PC key for a chance to win recon!"

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I have two ideas:
1) Halo 3 PC Beta invites to Halo PC owners, or
2) Halo Custom Edition 2

Sounds logical. I'd love a release that is just called CE 2 that'd be sweet. Also though what if they blew us away and unveil a game they never even showed off for the PC--one can dream LOL

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
they were talking about halo pc and how this guy roger is the only one left supporting it, how he made the patches for the latest exploits.
then hes like oh i guess i ll say this now, anyone who still has there yellow sticker cd key, hold on to it, something interesting is happening in the near future.
btw, the segment with nathon fillion, joe and marty was awesome.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I dont want quicktime fucking up my pc, clutters everything up. Thanks rentafence, saves me downloading 70mb, thats nearly a whole episode of House in bandwidth:O

For those who downloaded, the interview with Nathan Fillion is great as well.

woah?
Would be cool to see a new release of Halo PC and all old users get it for free.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Time to go buy another copy of Halo :bunchies:
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
God, read the post bacon...
The fact that, the only guy who deals with Halo PC said "get your cd keys ready" to me sounds like something is happening WITH Halo PC, (rather than Halo 3 PC beta).
I hope it is Halo source code released.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I'll have to give this a listen. And... I guess I have to go find my CD case. Seems I got slack since the 1.08 removal of the CD check.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I love how there are like 20 people hovering over this thread.
Edit: I have to reinstall Halo PC anyways, so I should go hunting for my Halo PC CD (with key) sometime.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
a remake of halo pc with the halo 3 engine /hope
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Drop any hopes you guys have of an update or anything. With a single guy doing minimal support for this game, the chances are slim to none. He said specifically "we might be doing something interesting with that in the future" with the it being a direct reference to the CD key itself, not the game.

I was the one who talked about Halo 3 PC. And I said a possible invite for Halo PC owners (which you can prove that you are one with your CD-Key).
Edit: I've been listening to the podcast for the last hour and they just mentioned it. He dropped the ball that it would be a new feature.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Unless they didn't want to mention it in the unfortunate event that it disappeared and was never finished (like the one for H2V...but that was with good reason) :-/
My fear is that they'd dare to drop Gamespy for the LIVE service. That would be horrible...
Everyone knows that Halo + G4WL = H2V pile of shit

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Cerebrum is a stat tracking program in development for Halo CE. It is a server side service. It has its own stickied thread.
Edit: Cerebrum would sound like something Wolf would be interested in, considering he is the one who did most of the work for stat tracking in Halo 2 and Halo 3 if I remember right.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Also, for anyone that did actually listen to this podcast, they give away one of the achievements for ODST, which ended up being one from the leaked list...
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
After listening to it I kinda lean towards Cerebrum.
I mean they mentioned CMT with it's first spv1
It would make sense, I mean Korn does know bungie well (If I recall that special trip he won.)
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I think a change in servers like LIVE instead of Gamespy would help out a lot. Such as the lag problems.
How often does this podcast come out? if it's monthly then something would most likely be coming out within this or next month. Why would this one single man say something like this if it wasn't coming out soon?
What the hell is he talking about? "We'll find something to do with it." It makes him sound like he's not so sure what the hell he's going to do with it.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Well they said THEY had something planned. I wouldn't be surprised if it was CS though.
I can see them reselling the game on DVD with custom maps included. It would be pretty sweet to buy it in a store and get mods and maps out of the box.

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
If it was Cerebrum, why would they go through the trouble of making it seem like a surprise or something we don't already know about? Couldn't they have just mentioned it on the podcast if it was Cerebrum they were talking about?
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
I'm not claiming to "know" Bungie over any other person in the community, don't put words in my mouth :P
But yeah, anyone remember Randy talking about some super project he had the opportunity to lead in (or take part in, in some way, anyway)? The one that only needed a few key, but really talented people (at least then). How long ago was that...

There were mentions of the source code. I couldn't tell who it was though I wonder what it meant when they mentioned it...
BTW I don't think Bungie would screw us with a Server switch/contest, only one of those needing our CD keys to do, now that they are out of MS' clutches.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Ummm....so what is Cerebrum? Too exhausted to read the pages and decipher the information but it sounds like something from X-Men. :v: And why should we hold on to our copies of Halo/CD keys?

You speak as if we're the only people the podcast is intended for. There's an ocean of Bungie fans who don't even have Halo CE, or Halo PC for that matter.
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Even so, just to give us a heads up, couldn't they just have mentioned its name or something?
-
Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
1.) unlocked h2v HEK (very unlikley)
2.) upgraded engine
3.) Halo 3 PC (WOOT)
4.) Beta for some upcoming game? (prolly not)
5.) Open source (again highly unlikley)
6.) Custom edition 2 (epic)
7.) Halo 3 reach beta (No.)
8.) Chance to win recon (prolly)
9.) ?????
10.) profit!!!
11.) Cerebrum (whatever the hell it is..)

Re: So did anyone listen to the bungie podcast today?
Hmmm maybe they're porting it to 360 lol so much for arsenic. Yeah that'll never happen probably a recon thing I played a bit of H3 today and all the noobs talk about is recon and as far as i'm concerned i can still pawn noobs even if they have recon

Maybe you can use your CD-Key to get a free copy of a 360-compatible version of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Think about it. Most people who download and listen to the podcast probably already have an XBOX 360 and play Halo 3.

haha yeah that would suck, but they mentioned gamespy passing the torch its defiantly something PC and i don't believe its a live migration either thats nothing you barly mention in a podcast thats something you say like "btw halo pc is now on live blagh" I'm hoping for an open or more open source type thing. Since we'll obviously need a key maybe they looking to release more development tools like a hek2 lol, but most of us have already made enough apps that are probally better than bungies.

Bungie will have us type in our cd keys and use them for a raffle drawing. The top 10 cd keys picked will get gearbox's old crap halo toys that they don't use. Or they barly upgrade the engine and just enable bump mapping on everything.

And they have a good reason to look back to the original.
I mean, that game was the greatest, you were the only cyborg to save the Human race from a misguided Covenant, and a parasitic Flood.
The enviroments were amazing, storyline is a great original.

But in all seriousness, it's the foundation, the basis for the Halo games released/and coming up.
