Wierd, interesting mod. The second chapter will probably make you feel uncomfortable.

Sad uncomfortable or sickening uncomfortable?
Looks pretty cool, but for some reason I can't get it to show up in my games list? I have HL2, CS:S, Garry's Mod, Team Fortress 2, and all 3 source SDKs, yet I still can't get it to show? I've done some searching and I found that some games won't start if they don't have a gameinfo.txt, but this one does. Any else have/had this problem?
I thought it was a little bit of sad uncomfortable along with the subject matter involved.
Make sure that the installer is putting the mod in the correct directory - it has to be in SourceMods. Also, if you haven't already, you'll need to restart Steam. Other than that, I'm not sure why it would do that if it has all the files. Maybe try installing the first part and then installing the second one over it?
At risk of wasting my net cap, I might try this out. It sounds interesting, but considering some of the members here thought a certain recently-released mod was the greatest thing since sliced bread I don't exactly trust Modacity's judgement...
downloading, will see how it is.
Dear Esther owned, I just got done replaying it this morning.
Got this one installed, will try it out shortly

Played it. I liked the whole non-combat FPS thing and the idea behind it (the IRS thing was pretty crazy, too), but there could've been a lot more. I guess the thing about experimental mods is just that, they're experimental, but all the same I finished Dear Esther with a stronger sense of what was going on and it felt more fulfilling. Radiator has a lot of potential, they're just not exploiting that enough to bring it up to par with Dear Esther in my books.
And yeah... the whole IRS thing... that hit a bit close to home, and when one of those little boxes explode (which they often do by themselves), it ain't pretty. :F
Something you'll like if you haven't already seen it: :iamafag:
I like that people are going beyond the simple "shoot everything that exists" mod that used to be so common, but I agree that a lot of these are suffering from a severe lack of content. I'd almost prefer it if things like this were released as one 30 minute sitting instead of six 5 minute ones, for example.
I guess this form does give the mod author a lot of room for feedback and such though.
I played through polaris and handle with care, but I'm not sure I'm actually doing it handle with care "correctly". There's no definite ending...it just fades back to the meeting room and sits there ad infinitum.
Dear Esther was amazing, so much of it clicked with me and I caught a lot of the meaning. I consider it art.
Oh shit, he's redoing it. Nice.
I agree that there need to be more unorthodox FPS mods - there are plenty of mods which don't involve killing everything you see, but not many remain in FPS format.
Personally one thing I'd love to see is an expansion on the opening section of HL2, when the city's still in its 'normal' state and Gordon Freeman isn't bunnyhopping about skullfucking CPs with a crowbar. The atmosphere just hit me and since then I've been wishing someone would take us deeper into pre-Freeman C17. The beginning of The Citizen did a little exploratory stuff, but then threw in a huge amount of combat later (along with a little stealth); other than that I'm having trouble thinking of any other mod I've played which gave any time to the city at peace. Having a mod where you can just explore and whatnot but with some deeper gameplay elements (the ability to initiate combat if you really want to, meaningful interaction with other citizens, some kind of system where you're required to do certain things other than kill shit, etc.) would be really good. I've been sitting on an idea for a Source mod for about a year now (I work on the script when I've got some inspiration or my net is fucked, it's up to about ten pages I think), and the idea is that basically the first 15 minutes or so are an orientation in which the player finds out bits and pieces of story on the fly, moving through the bowels of the city and experiencing flashbacks of their own and of the other characters every so often. Past that, they continue to pick things up while actually playing, so definite level breaks are essentially non-existent. One of my favourite things about HL2 was that it was one smooth, more or less unbroken experience; while it would put things on hold to expose more story between sections, it didn't take you out of your environment, not even for a moment. That is what really keeps me playing a game.
Wow, that turned into a bit of a drivelfest :ohdear:
k so i bought the eps and played through this... how was i supposed to choose any thing? i just went with what was going on and i ended up choosing to reveal everything or whatever. its what i wanted to do anyway, but i didnt know thats what i was doing. :\
oh, that's pretty creative. nice.
Damn I wanna play this, but I don't have ep2 for pc, only xbox. That sucks.
