Looks nice.
Handel Gothic ITC is the halo menu font.
I think the blue is a bit too vibrant. Con's has more of a grey in it, vibrant colours aint too good.
Try and replicate Con's, because that is good.
Strangely enough, I think it looks better with such that minor change.
I actually darkened mine with levels before I gave it the blue tone, so don't think that the saturation is entirely the problem when yours looks too bright.
What did you use for color adjustment? I've got levels, color balance, and hue/saturation overlays working together...
Edit - Here's my last attempt at messing with the colors:
And I'm going to "open source" this wallpaper by providing the community with the PSD. Maybe you can play with this Con and make it look a bit more like yours.
If only AA was possible in Halo, or a game that would render everything in the same way with AA capabilities. :(
EDIT: Just noticed the ring bit in the left back is extremely blurry/pixelated too. Damn it looks good zoomed out, but zoomed in makes my harder parts become limp.
Really nice shot and wallpaper but I'd at least fix those few white dots on some edges. You wouldn't have to fake anti alias with blurring cause it might come out even worse.
It's not hard to fake AA, but it's time consuming. If anyone wants, I can teach you.
Could you make a tutorial?
Needs depth of field. This is a megalithic structure.
I made something like this not long ago with TM Fracture, based off of CMT's loading screens and the Delta Halo UI. Your's looks pretty nice, however. I wonder if you could possibly make some other wallpapers like this from other maps/places around the map(s)?
It looks very cool. I have a critcism of that structure though, it seems to have a sky shooting bolt coming out the center/top AND a observation deck sticking out over a cliff. I do say it looks very nice, very much like forerunner architecture. My critcism is that it doesn't seem to be focusing on the sky shooting bolt. The entire structure is horizontally focused, while it also has a sky shooting bolt. If you remember the sky shooting structures in the halo 1 level Halo, they were tall and focused almost entirely on doing so.
That, and the rest of the map is just bleh. Some random forerunner structures in the middle of nowhere, with some random canyon between the two ends. No specific purpose, other than gameplay and aesthetics. Why doesn't anyone start making maps somewhere on earth, or another human, or covenant, world? A giant wind farm, radio telescope dish, nuclear bunkers and ICBM launch and control structures maybe.
It's a map. Almost no map EVER made actually has a purpose. For example... "Why are we here?"
lets leave halo about halo hun
It's nice to have meaning and purpose behind the map, but gameplay is the most important. Nobody knows what beam towers are meant for, so the assumption can't be made that these structures have no purpose for being here. They're certainly a lot more purposeful than most of the forerunner structures in Halo MP. In Halo 2 and 3, environments are more purposeful. It's great when you can combine gameplay and purpose, but gameplay is the most important thing here. Also, don't count out the halo hologram in the middle. That structure is a map room, and I made the holograms under the ramps show schematics of 4 beam generators. We've added these touches to create purpose and make the map more interesting than a bunch of rooms and hallways.
As for the bases, I think they look best the way they are right now.
Sorry, I stated that wrong. I meant to say "if Con can show me how to fake AA for Halo" and not "in Halo".
Also, these new "sky shooting bolts" aren't like previous ones. These are more like energy beams that are constantly turned on for some reason, as opposed to beams that shoot off every so often. So who's to say this structure doesn't have a completely different purpose than the standard "sky shooting bolt" structures? Maybe this one is more horizontal so it can take advantage of the cooling provided by the gigantic waterfall? Maybe it was designed by a smaller Forerunner contracting firm than the ones that did everything else and is therefore sub-par (lol what)... Either way, the argument is fairly moot.
What? There's a pretty large amount of multiplayer maps that have back story to them...
O i c wut u mean. yea. Almost ALL maps have backstory... but almost none have a real purpose. (as in present tense purpose. notice how all maps with a backstory are abandoned)
Yes. That was the reference I made. :downs:
Isn't it obvious?
I know exactly why they're there, and I know exactly where they came from because I pay attention to the details.
New sig?
I've finished the tutorial on removing aliasing from screenshots:
