Valve replaced the shadow engine in this game
replaced the shadows? too bad they still suck.
side by side comparisons show major improvements but yeah
This shadow system was suppose to ship with the orange box but was dropped because they still supported DX8.
Finally they have some kind of functioning real time shadow mapping.
I got in the beta and I'll trade my spare invite for a dota 2 invite.

If they ever fix Counter Strike's completely illogical and retarded bullet spread system I'll be interested in this.
They won't. They are basically building the game around the input of "hardcore competitive Counter-Strike players," and that means it contains more CS 1.6 DNA than CS:S.
Except a lot of the 1.6 pro's hate it.

E: Game has ugly washed out visuals (fucking battlecod!), radial menus, almost no configurables for graphical settings, clunky menu's, you can't bind console to ~, no server browser and I can't open the console to use netgraph but I'm definitely not being put in local servers.

I know it's not a CS:S port; I never implied that it was and there is zero information given in the previous post where you could extract that idea from. It is, however, a console game that also happens to have an equal (or greater, actually) amount of attention being put into its PC counterpart. You don't put radial menus in a pure PC game, though.
When valve compiles the game some console menus might get dumped in there or vice versa. Same thing happened with portal 2
