It seems like nothing different from crysis 2. Just looks like an expansion campaign of crysis 2 and nothing else.
Kinda looks meh to me.
Looks alright, hopefully it wont have as much bad/linear level design as Crysis 2 and go back to its roots in Crysis 1... I also personally found the stagnate city theme overall bland and boring in C2, and it seems to still be bland and boring post apocalyptic theme once again, just over grown now.
20 years? WTF?! When are they going to stop moving retarded amounts of time into the future and start tying up lose ends of the story? I'm still waiting to find out what happened to PSYCHO,NOMAD, and Helena Rosenthal. I read about the comic on the Crysis Wiki. Still doesn't explain what happened to PSYCHO.
Did PROPHET teleport to New York while the other three perished trying to save his ass?
A PC Gamer preview states that "The mission we saw had Prophet en route to save Psycho (Crysis Warhead’s protagonist), who was being held underground, presumably by CELL," so I guess that's that
Honestly I don't understand how anybody managed to actually get invested in Crysis' story, much less that of Crysis 2; as for everything else, it's too hard to make anything out with all the flashing and jumpcutting and good god I hate modern trailer trends
Will be interested if 1. Environments are indeed highly open-ended (as they seem to be advertising) 2. the PC release isn't gimped and full of holes (unlike last time) 3. they spend the effort on a single-player demo
Hopefully they don't fuck over the PC community like they did with Crysis 2. And hopefully it's running on the latest Cryengine update:

Yeah. There isnt that much to get invested too, but at least the first games story actually made sense and didnt have random confusing plot holes in it and for the most part was overly enjoyable. Crysis 2 had a shit story with shit characters, even some of the voice acting in the game was just down right bad. And I thought that whatever they did at the end of Crysis 2 made it so the Ceph were gone from NY. (Cant remember exactly). JUST GO BACK TO THE FUCKING PHILIPPINES ALREADY!!
Why go back to the Philippines? That's boring!
Everyone wants to destroy big cities like New York! It'll make the game sell millions!
Meh, looks alright. Then again you can barely see anything past the guns that take up half the damn screen and the in-your-way HUD.
"The game is based in a future where a massive ancient space alien-constructed structure has been discovered buried inside a mountain on an island in the fictional Lingshan Islands, near the coast of the East Philippines."
Either way, that's not important right now. What's important is Crytek seems to be understanding that we want the open jungles of Crysis 1 back.
Na, the Islands were closer to the China than Philippines, but you guys are right, it really doesn't matter lol. The island in the game is real, though.
The decision to switch from switching to a city from an island in Crysis 2 was just technical. It's far easier to render a city on a console than an island.
E: That and selling out to the codbase
Glad to see crysis is (trying) to go back to it's roots.
Now all we need is an achievement for hitting a ceph with the compound bow saying "I used to be the biggest threat in the universe but then I took an arrow to the knee".
Heh. That would be funny.
DON'T LET THAT BE A MEME FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY
From what I've gathered, the guy they hired for writing the story has/wants book rights.
Crytek has a bad case of "crap, we ran out of time. well, guess it's okay since we have XXXXX in the pipeline. we'll just tell them that something better is down the road instead.".
I used to laugh at jokes on the internet, but then people repeated them so much that they stopped being funny but that was okay because they were still kind of funny in the unfunny meta-sense but now even that's been done so much that they're just completely idiotic and uninspired and tiring and
E: Oh, almost forgot; possibly relevant - "Crytek: Next-gen used games block 'would be absolutely awesome"

How do you go about [turning pirates into customers]? "You'd have to ask someone who knows something about that, because it's not me," the Crytek man said.

Alpha trial keys.
I got in, so I'll try and get some gameplay videos for you guys. Make requests, etc.
Got in as well, hoping this will be worth the download :P
Downloading. I played like 3 minutes worth before but really that isnt a true flavour of the game, glad you posted this ODX!
Edit:
Can I post videos or talk about the game outside of the official closed Alpha message boards?
The short answer is no. By participating in the Closed alpha you agree not to post any screenshots, videos or discuss the game outside the official Crysis 3 Closed Alpha forum.
:O
This is awesome, downloading now.
Ah don't thank me, thank...Cobby (or whatever the fuck his forum name is, that's his Steam name is all I know). He literally posted me the link and said "GOGOGOGOOGOGOG," decided to share with the gang here so you could try it out.
lol
:( Need a new computer. It shits it self on lowest graphics for this.
I'm getting iffy frame rates too, and the ever occasional bullshit stutter.
I'm getting pretty shit FPS compared to Crysis 2 and the game looks exactly the same, visually.
From what i can see in my slide show, there is a lot of finer details which they got rid of in C2.
I'm getting this weird thing where the game looks like garbage on very high but pretty nice on medium. Seems strange.
Yeah just playing it on medium. The fucking ping on some of these people are horrendous.
I'm guessing you have an AMD card? Right now Crytek is having issues with AMD drivers. Something along the lines of AMD not following DX9/11 specs. Other than that, could you post a dxdiag? Also, can you start the game, switch to the high quality settings that look like garbage, quit the game, and start it again to see if it still looks like garbage? If so, quit and then post the system.cfg in the Crysis 3 folder? If there's a game.log file in there as well, that would help. That log would tell if there's anything going on while shaders are getting compiled.
Asking around, there seems to be two big things going on. First is a lack of sli/crossfire working properly (lack of profiles built into drivers?) and something weird going on with tesselation. Try entering e_Tessellation = 0 into console.
How do you use the console? ~ isn't working, and I can't find any options that let me enable it.
I got a key yesterday. Will probably get around to playing it in a bit.
If ~ isn't working, they're either keeping you from using it in the .cfg or through code. The .cfg is read after post-init, so add it in there.
Funny thing about this was that most of Crytek didn't know nVidia was going to distribute keys for the alpha. It was, afterall, an alpha and not really meant for widespread distribution. They're more interested in how people feel about the gameplay over any technical problems with it.Quote:
Maybe the game is just badly optimized right now. Crysis 2 was running well on older systems in its alpha state (albeit, the quality of the graphics weren't as high as they should have been).
Crysis 2 didn't have a public alpha. They beta they distributed was a RC for the 360.
Making an autoexec worked (you have to copy system.cfg and rename it, or actually people say you can just add your commands to the system.cfg).
Unfortunately the game still ran at a blazing 15-20 FPS with the ever present stuttering. e_tesselation 0 didn't seem to do anything, and I know the config is working because I also put in g_skipinto 1 and that worked just fine.
Sigh.
Edit: Also does anyone know how the fuck you get to the Alpha forums?
As far as I know, there aren't any. It wasn't supposed to be a widespread thing.
Just played to about Level 6. Pretty fun, but it's easily in Alpha. A lot of Framerate issues and I think Ping is pretty hiccupy in most games for everyone (so far I see no one with less than 150). It needs a lot of optimization and the Motion Blur mixed with Lens Flare is ridiculous. I changed my graphics from High to Medium because I wanted better performance, then from Medium to Low because of the same reason, and finally I realized that there isn't much a difference other than my being able to have slightly better FPS in firefights. It needs a lot of optimizing quite frankly.
Gameplay is fun, but limited. The Gunner build is very noob-friendly and easy, but I find it a lot of fun and very easy to have fun with. I hardly use the Nano Suit's abilities because I'm still relatively new, but I'm getting there. I hate how messy and limited the current UI is though, especially since it won't let you do any customizing. But it is an Alpha and for an Alpha it is pretty freaking cool.
if you didnt recieve it in your email go here http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/ ,register and send crypete a personal message http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewt...p?f=58&t=52310
Yep I had done that, he PM'd me back already a while ago and I hadn't checked lol. Thanks though.
lol, the mycrysis forums.
that's abandoned bat country.
