--------------------------------------------------------------
Lets get another benchmark thread going, start by downloading the Unigine Valley benchmark and then run it using the following settings:

This benchmark requires DirectX 11 and you should simply be able to select the "Extreme" preset. To start the benchmark once you've got it running, just click the "Benchmark" button located in the upped left-hand corner of the program:

To be considered for "official" entry you need to provide a link or embed a picture of your benchmark scores right after the benchmark finishes. Don't click "Save" and upload the generated HTML file anywhere, just hit "F12" as soon as your scores pop up and a screenshot will be saved to "My Documents\Valley\screenshots".
Your benchmark results picture should look like this:

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I like how even maxed out my 470's run with an average temp that's only 1 degree hotter than your 580. Unfortunately I can't push them any further than what they're at without artifacting and bad things happening.

Take a look at the clock speeds. ;)
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
That's what I mean, maxed out my 470's are are 1 degree hotter, and you still have room to breath, though not a lot.
Just shows what the bigger fans in those 580's can do!
I'm still not sure if I should buy a couple of waterblocks to water-cool these cards or just start saving for some new GPU's. I think at this point, being 3 gen old, it's better to get new cards.

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I don't really know what I'm doing...did I win?:

-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Can we just take a 2600k and 580 score and multiply it by 190% so I don't have to run this on my 2600k and 590?

Nice try.

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Meh... I should probably consider a new graphics card for the future, but I havent been paying much attention to them latley...

It's not really a beast anymore.
I'll run it sometime before next friday.

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
New drivers bumped up score

I should try overclocking sometime :effort:
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Ran it and saw that the SLI'd 470s beat my 590. Updated drivers and got this:

Increased clocks a bit through Precision and wound up with a bit higher score:

I think I'll try overclocking tuesday to take advantage of the next cold spell. I think that with colder ambient and GPU/CPU overclock I can break 3k easily.

It's easy! Just download EVGA Precision (Legacy, new version is gay) and set your volts up as high as they'll go (totally safe on GPU's, auto-cuts off before anything bad happens) and then increase the core clock in increments and run the benchmark until it crashes/BSOD's. You can probably go up by 50Mhz until it crashes, then go down by 10 until it's just right. Then do the same with Memory clock.
Also, updated.

I think I'll do exactly this later on. Thanks!

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores

That's seemingly as high as I can get it without changing memory timings and going into volt mods. Anything more and the driver fails.
I really wanted 3k too :(.

Damnit Freelancer...making me download benchmarks and shit...
I'll get back to you with this...

Looks like SLI was off, look at the numbers on the second GPU.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Good call, I derped. Here we go:

Must have gotten disabled after I updated drivers a while back. Haven't done anything that's needed the second card, so I just spaced it.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
got 1378, after baking my GPU for a while.
seems like it made it through the process which is good.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Ran this on Extreme HD on a work computer with SLI GTX 680's and got a score of 3233 compared to my 2031.
Wow.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
am i doing this right? i have nearly no headroom over stock clocks. :(

-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
OK InnerGoatSE I added you to the list!
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Here's mine:

Never stuttered once. I'm beginning to think its measurement methods are borked. Definitely Nvidia-biased, that's for sure.
Edit:
I don't know why the benchmark is specifying windowed, seems to me that most people play in full screen. Windowed diverts resources from the scene, especially when running something like Rainmeter for your desktop. I also don't know why it specifies 1600 x 900, when the standard for games is 1920 x 1080.
So, here's Extreme, but full screen:

Here is Extreme, at standard gaming resolution (1080p):

And here is uber settings that I would actually play at (2560 x 1440):

I did no optimizing of my computer's resources, these were taken with everything running that would normally be running when I play games. I suppose I could squeeze out more numbers by overclocking CPU and GPUs, especially the latter now that the warranty is up, but frankly it doesn't appeal to me. My games run just fine, no need to risk breaking anything.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
try it again with crossfire. single 7970s beat gtx680s in this benchmark so you got something set wrong...
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I was in Crossfire. Refresh page and see edit.
Also, the music sounds like something out of a Miyazaki film. I like it.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Oh there you go. Guess crossfire didn't like being in a window. It would make more sense to run with the Extreme HD with recent GPUs anyways.
Extreme HD

max

-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I did test at Extreme HD; it's the middle result of the edit section. :p
That's a respectable score you have there, for a single GTX 670. Especially at 2560x1600, for a single card that isn't even the top-end. Me, I know I'm under par, mostly because most 7970s are GHz-editions and also because I haven't overclocked. I've seen them hitting above 4000 at "Extreme HD" with similar set-ups to mine, even the CPU.
Edit:
Disabling Rainmeter and Steam netted me a whopping grand total of 5 extra points at the Extreme preset, windowed. See the magic:

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Added an Extreme HD section to the OP.

Hey Warsaw, I added the two rigs from work to the OP like I said I would. They're under Extreme HD.

Triple SLI GTX 580's and a 570 for PhysX? 570 seems like huge waste of money just for PhysX.

Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I guess the subliminal message here is to get a third HD 7970 for my computer, yes?
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
BTW can anybody tell me why it wasn't showing I was running crossfire. Afterburner shows me I was but it didn't display in valley.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Mine didn't mention Crossfire, either, it just listed that I had two cards. Likewise, yours is showing that there are three cards.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I don't know why it's listing the intel graphics for. I'm running 2x sapphire 7970 vapor-x oc 6gb cards.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
So apparently I was really tired this morning and thought it listed three 7900s (I'm assuming 7970s with a score like that) in your results. Oops. I think it just lists whatever it detects is present and running, and the HD4000 is always running on account of it being part of the CPU die. You just aren't using its output. I don't have an integrated graphics component, thus it does not list one.
I'm curious: did you overclock those HD7970s? Because that's more than a thousand points over me and yet you only have two cards.
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
Yeah I overclocked. But my standard clocks are 1100/1500 and I was getting about 3600. With my regular over clocks of 1190/1600 I couldn't get past 3820. I pushed it to the limit of 1200/1900 and got that score. 5ghz more on gpu or memory and it would crash. I've had this rig for about a month and I wanted to see what it could do :)
-
Re: Unigine Valley (DX11) Benchmark Scores
I think you meant 5Mhz more on GPU or memory... :p

Built this computer on a budget but runs everything great. All games run great on highest settings, even Crysis 3. Just moved out to LA but I will be upgrading this CPU once I get some extra cash, was debating on spending the extra $100 and didnt.

I do have 2x 760's, only thing is my old motherboard doesnt support SLI only crossfire, so one's working as a physixs processor at the moment.
I'm just waiting on the mounting bracket for my noctura NH D14 to arrive (they send it to you for free, you just have to prove you have a newer processor)
So hopefully in a few days i'll do some proper benchmarking with the 5930k 16gb ddr4@2400 and the 2x 760's in crossfire and get some sexy new results :D!
