I can't understand why, my specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHZ
1.00GB RAM
NVIDIA GEForce 7500 LE
Yet I am forced to play it on the lowest resolution and on low detail to actually get a really smooth picture, unlike most who can play it on 1024x768. Any advice. I've heard people saying the 7500 LE isn't a gaming card. Could that be the problem?
your CPU sucks. Its not at least a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon. Upgrade your motherboard...ur graphics card is decent. Does your computer lag out when you are playing H2V online and campaign?
If played on higher resolution then yes to online mode. Campaign mode lags at lot aswell. This shocks me, the people at PC World adviced me to get this computer for gaming.:mad:Quote:

The video card sucks too, and 1gb of RAM isn't the best thing to have in Vista... try getting another 512mb or 1gb or ram, and it should help out with load times and stuff.

I'd get a computer with at least 2 GBs of ram. When I'm running it my ram goes from 40-60% with 2gbs.
The D in Pentium D is dual core =S so technically it's better...in terms of the 1gb of RAM and 7500LE might/or might not be the problem. =(
Get another gig of ram, and a new graphics card (7600GT+). Also bleach, a Pentium D is a dual core Pentium 4.

Yes, get another gig of ram and upgrade that excuse for a video card...your CPU on the other hand you can just overclock, some people have had pretty good success with it. Thisll probably be cheaper than buying a whole new system, good luck.
Overclocking is not as simple as it seems. Overclock too much and you can turn your system into an expensive paperweight, unless you have liquid cooling. Besides the Pentium D 2.8Ghz is fine and will last for a few more years.
The Geforce 7500 LE needs to go, now. Find a better card. Also, any Nvidia card with LE in the name is a must-avoid. Think of LE as standing for Lame Edition.
has anyone got any tips or tricks other than overclocking my celeron *shivers* cpu which runs at 2.66 gig

i don't care about gameplay quality i just want to be able to play it... i can play with this windows rating of 1.6 but the laging kinda gets to you after a while.
that and the fact you move your mouse and it takes half a second to update the screen. and by the time i have aimed at an ai's head it has already moved... :S
i tried what someone pointed out with something else and sofar the increase in gameplay speed is zippo. although i get no lag when watching flash movies on youtube now surprisingly enough
If u look at ur 'windows rating' in detail it tells u what has the lowest score... i'd say fix that.

ram is lowest with 1.6
higher frequency ram mb? or more? its 2 sticks 333 mhz and 400mhz. both 512 meg

cpu. celeron. 2.66 gig. rating of 1.8. i tried running programs with a pentium with half the power and no lag. ce for instance.
video card. geforce 6200. rating of 2.9 for windows stuff and 3 for games.
oh and i have a nice 5.2 for my hard drive :P
got it. so i need new ram with a higher frequency. and more of it. and a pentium cpu equivelent to what i have now in celeron.
ge thats much easier to follow than having a whole heap of benchmarking tools for everything XD

Remember, ram will operate at the lowest frequency, so in your case all sticks will run at 333mHz, or so i've be told. So going by that, you'll need to buy some new ram. I get horrible FPS lag at the beginning of single player levels with 1GB of ram (533mHz), so it'll probably be a good idea to get two.
what the fucking shit. Halo 2, essentially, is halo 1, with dynamic lighting + more bumps. Yet, you can't even run the fucking thing with a geforce 7 series? You could run games liek FEAR and Quake 4 at full settings with that, but halo 2, no? Fuck it, I'm staying with CE until they fix the damn thing.
technecally the only thing halo 1 and 2 have in common is the editing tools
i hear they started from scratch with everything for h2
for instance shaders are in no way the same.
physics for another is definately different.
the fact that you have dynamic lights. normal maps. bump maps.
different rendering engine.
havoc physics.(so its kinda like using the collision model with spheres for contact points for wheels. good combination :P)
sound. couldn't really care aslong as the sounds sound realistic and don't bug and repeat all the time
yeah other than the fact that halo 2 uses different physics engine. different rendering engine. the same name for the editing tools full of different content. a different file format for maps. different tag formats. yeah its almost identical to halo ce.
oh and can't forget duel weilding cause its just so cool :P
not to mention the biggest mistake was programming halo 2 just to work on vista. the biggest resource hog known to man kind where the wasted resources could be used to actually run the game*slaps face* but no. M$ and bungie are idiots so up there's
and yeah i was already awear about that with the ram. but i put both frequencies up cause there are some people that are all. ZOMG NO IT DOSN'T IT SWAPS BETWEENT HE 2 FREQUENCIES or HELL NO IT DOSN'T IT USES THE FASTEST FREQUENCY AND IGNORES THE SLOWER 1. not that anyone would listen to someone who assembles computers kinda for a job and mostly a hobby who researches everything from a reliable source... google.
yeah ill try fix the ram and cpu problem anyway. and with a rating of 2.9-3 it should play without lag with all these other things i heard :P
Dude, I have DDR1 RAM on my desktop (forgot the frequency, must check later) and I don't lag too often (but when I do, it's quite irritating). Windows Vista isn't that much of a resource hog - I mean, I ran XP-based games on Vista and the performance didn't really go down. The real resource hog here is Halo 2, which has nothing, I mean NOTHING, spectacular to show for being so demanding.
I have yet to get another copy of Windows Vista for my laptop, which sports a Pentium M 770 2.13 Ghz (it's one of the Centrino Solo's), 1 GB of 667Mhz DDR2 (faster RAM than my desktop), and a Nvidia Geforce Go 6600. When I got this laptop, Intel Core and Core 2 Duo had not come out yet so the CPU was the fastest laptop processor ever (don't be fooled by the 2.13Ghz - it beats a 3.0Ghz P4 due to high efficiency).
I'm fairly sure my laptop's going to die on H2V though, thanks to the Geforce 6600 card.

At least the game doesn't look like a total eyesore on low settings (lulz I once had to run Halo PC on fixed function) - at that setting, it looks just as good as the Xbox version.
