My emoticons tell how I feel about this from the of reading the title and the end of the page loading.

So, I'm sad about the release date, but I know you guys are doing a great job with this, and I hope the best for it. It's gonna be a lot of fun. And frankly thanks for being one of those mapping teams who stuck with it and got the job done.
I honestly don't care about the release date. Remember a company called Remedy Entertainment, which produced both Max Payne games? Well, for Max Payne 1, they refused to give a release date since announcing the game in 1997, and in 2001, after much anticipation (although marketing was terrible), we received a top-notch shooter. Remedy unfortunately decided to give a deadline for Max Payne 2, and while we also got a great shooter, it was just way too short. As a result, Remedy will not give a release date for Alan Wake or Max Payne 3.
The fact is that when you give a release date, you feel inclined to work towards it, and may well end up rushing jobs just to meet that date, which can be very bad. I mean, if MGS4 had been rushed to meet the PS3's launch, I'm sure it would have been plagued with technical issues.
Plus, these guys have LIVES OUTSIDE OF GAMING - they're not game developers who work 8-12 hours a day for profits. They have school, relationships, etc, and therefore they are not obliged to put that aside just to satisfy the excitement of retarded CMT fanboys.
If there is one downside to a 2008 release date, it's that Halo 1's popularity is inevitably declining and that by then, the loyal community will have shrunken a lot. I'm sure all the console owners who don't play on the PC as much will still be loyal, but in the vast PC world, there are just so many top-notch shooters...
Well at least it isn't a fixed Release date. Remember what happened to SPv1?
Well, it wasn't that SPV1 was rushed - it was that CMT didn't test out the results of encrypting their maps before releasing them, thus resulting in many annoying bugs that weren't expected. Of course, beta testers like Bathroom Security got the unencrypted versions, and thus had more bug-free experiences. Still, I guess that if they hadn't set a release date, things might have been better.
Yes, here's one. CMT is working hard on SPv2, but due to the fact that they want to make it the best they can, they need more time to do it. (if you meant a picture update, it will probably come when the lockdown ends. It would probably be better that way, so we can actually comment on it (or them, if it's more than one) when they're released.
edit: I know, the "update" was just restating the first post.
We can all wait for SpV2's release by playing Halo 3! Yaaay :awesome:
I recently got into Doom 3 and its fantastic mods so I think I can wait for this. I wonder if it'll be a late New Year's Eve release.
Fair enough.
Are you serious? Okay fair enough then as long as we get something better than SPV1.
So is f33t giving you the SP scripts to play with?
Not likely, I asked for b40 scripts and he said CMT didn't get 'em. (CAD btw)
We are getting the scripts before the release. That's the biggest reason for the delay.
So does this mean we get even more cool toys to play with in SPv2? It's gonna be a fun year in 2008.
Yeah, that and I myself have ALOT of shit to finish >_>
sry guys :(
Sice Halo 3 will take up most of our time for a while, this is probably a good decision. Taking time to do things is great - unfortunately, Bungie didn't know that when they made Halo 2, but thankfully you guys do. Take your time, I'll love it whenever it's out.
You know what I really am glad that the release date is in 2008. Now I can enjoy Halo 3, await for an awesome mod over Christmas, and PLAY ON THE CMT SERVER!!!. Also this means that the mod will turn out awesome. No rush up jobs. Keep up the good work CMT team. Sorry I would name you all but sadly I don't know everyone on the team.
I have a 360...but not all of you might.
Anywho, I'm sure when it does come out, it'll be more :win: than ever...(hopefully...)
I just hope Halo 3 will have not consumed my entire life by the time this is released.
Ill play fear...half life 2....and other opensource free games I have....
Oh to live in a land where 360 games are only $60 bucks
... sad happy mad cant decide. I just hope you do a great job on it.
I'm actually glad he extended it. It gives them time to make it awesome.
I was hoping to play it before Halo 3 though....which might still be true because I don't have a 360. Hopefully my friend invites me over to play.
Can't wait for the MPv3 also. Going to be a great time for Halo.
get two legendary editions and save one for me. I'm not allowed to buy ANY new games until December, so I'll be missing out on all the Halo 3 fun for a few months (when I buy Halo 3, I'll be sure to pick up CoD4 and ETQW, and possibly Crysis if my PC can handle it).
2008? If its gonna come out that long its gonna be REALLY good! Take your time CMT.
And to think they were previously aiming for a May/June release...0.0
Release dates are always a tricky thing when you don't have dedicated time for the job.
This is fair I'll consider it a New Year's gift from CMT.
