I'm a little concerned about the gravity lifts, they were implemented terribly in CMT's original h2 coag and just as terribly in any place H2CE used them, even if you had 0 ping.

YoYo, just remember you should try having a weak Grav lift every 7 ft, just have it real weak, just enogh power to get the MC to the next grav lift, that may help with the lag and the warping.

Thanks, and put the song 'Mad World' by Tears for Fears in the sniper tower, that would make some good music to have going when sniping, I all ways have up beat Music going in the back ground when I'm sniping, it helps alot.

Please for the love of Halo take out the secret teleporters. once people started finding the one to the top of the map it totally killed Yoyorast one. Also, I vote Click Click Boom by Saliva. That song is fun

It is much better looking than v1 and truly one of the best maps in progress.

Just a thought, what about making the gravlifts vehicles that dont have any collision, but stay in that place so you can walk through them if you dont want to go up, but if you do want to go up, theyll take you up. Might be a little unconventional, but it might just work.

not that this isn't important, but there is a yoyorast island 2 in the gamespy lobby. Is this the test, or is someone else trying to do the same map.
edit: Here is the map. Is this yours, yoyorast? (I know it says "yoyorast" is the author, but I'm making sure it's not some other yoyorast.)

Yoyorast is keeping a classic weapon set, as far as I know; but I think there's going to be some sort of transport hog for race <_<

if he is making a Transport hog, he needs to do a better job then what most people have, like have the seating in the back set up like the Drop ship, that'll work a whole lot better, and there needs to be a turret on the back for some defince.

I believe it makes sense to put classical music in the places with music instead of someone's favourite rock song or something, as not everyone here adores the above-mentioned musical artists. Classical music is, in many ways, neutral in these terms (you may not like it, but it doesn't make you want to yell at whomever put it there), and I personally enjoy seeing all the carnage while there is classical music playing (makes it hilarious!). I loved hanging in the sniper tower in Yoyorast Island 1 for just that reason. Classical music is just funny during bloopers, crazy action scenes and, yes, Halo.
Anyways, to Yoyorast, I love how you've reworked the level and am looking forward to getting completely lost again. This'll be awesome! And, as for a turret on the transport hog, having a bunch of armed Spartans in the back, in my opinion, makes up for the lack of a LAAG.

i like the classical music that's their now. as varmint said, it's more neutral than rock and it gives abit of comedy to the map (and it makes it seem even more serial than it already is)

The transport hogs people have made sucked though, they either had only 1 or 2 seats in the back and one passenger seat.

Neither. The map is there to PLAY ON, not to go to secret rooms in and ruin it for everyone else. Though picking the little bastards off as they try get onto the teleport is always hilarious.

Here's an idea if you need to find stuff... Start your own multiplayer game and make the game password complete jibberish. Then you have as much time as the game allotts (before the game ends) to search for eggs, secrets, etc. (this is not a good way to find bugs, though, since many of them come while people are in combat.)

At least it's under the map and doesn't create the ultimate camper area that no one can reach (not even the ones on top of the sniper nest) Ah, the fun of it. It's so much easier to pick them off when they're on top of the nest instead of in it. Less cover=easier time.

I think he means, in Halo explosions go through certain geometry. This is a big problem in yoyorast because the map has a lot of thin glass panels. If someone's in the flag tunnel you can rocket them or flame them from the outside when they're up against it, for example.

Maybe make the glass panes like the stationary shields in Halo PC/CE, but with some insane amount of damage needed to break them, several layers thick so no one gets killed by glitches (or glitches with the flag for easy rallys, I won't say how here)

- Where does the passage in picture 11 lead to/from? Sea level? The warthog trap? (to the sides of the drop right outside of the garage) Somewhere else?
- The interior of the lower mongoose structure - what is in there? I saw the leaked WIP version, and it looked like a control panel of some sorts under the glass...
- I dont know how it would work, but I agree with whoever said it that it would be interesting to put an artillery of some sorts on the small island at the beach - maybe a wraith turret!

in pic 11 this is just the ramp you take after falling in the sea and going up again to join the main track again... same as v1 but you 'll join the main track a little farer.. hard to explain.. I hope you get it.
ye in the beach base, there's an interuptor that comands the door placed between the to big hills (where the beach starts) and that shut the passage of the track for hogs..
Given the fact that there's already a turret on the beach base, I prefer to have some place to hide in the middle of the little island.. like 3 big stones with a space in the middle..

#1 - I thought so, and I understand fully - The last two pictures really helped clarify some stuff about the passage destinations. Do you have any different angles of those kind of shots? Those would be SO AWESOME to see. Also, in the beta, the sea ramps led to a point ABOVE the first ramp - is that still there?
#2 - I thought the rim around the pathway on the beta version was important, and the fact that you can see through the glass to that area makes a lot of sense now.
#3 - So THATS why that small island looked so empty! Zanzibar style rocks would work very nicely there. If it is possible to use them, maybe you could put some Rocket/Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun ammo there, rather than weapons. It seems too distant from the mainland to have a small bunker - It would have to have been a sprawling tower of some sorts to not seem out of place with the rest of the map. On another note, will there be any other small rocks and vegitation around the map? The first version had character and some simplicity, but with the massiveness of this version, I think some little "landmark" objects would help out.
I also highly agree with FriedMetroid - maybe you could make a Yoyorast Canyon or Yoyorast City!
I cant wait for version 2's release!

I'm thoughrouly stunned at how much work you put into this! I really like this new model, plus the additions of passages and random exits from the track are a great touch. The one track that leads up to the sniper tower at the very top of the map looks kina, ummm, wobbley, as if it were... nevermind. Basically, it kinda looks too thin. Maybe if yuo thickened it or put another column underneath it to make it look supported? Other than that, I love it!

seats like that are fine on a tank, because it's slow as horse feces, but on a hog, i think that people would be pretty likely (in real life) to fall off (especially on some of the crazy jumps on the map). for that reason, i think there needs to be a seat their for them to be abit less exposed in. not like s big seat on the side of the hog, but build the seats into the side of it.
but then again, look at the turret.. but that still has something to grab the top of your body onto...

Hi Guys, no big news yet unfortunatly... Since my last update I didn't got much time to make progress ... Life things (I think I'll have more time soon)... I just took the time to make some changes on the roof's bases area cause I wasn't happy with the design there. I guess and hope its nor styled now.. Also changes the gameplay : Now (when riding hog) you'll have to jump from the last ramp onto the roof's base where the 2 teleporters are placed now... this results in : no more passing flag, no more accesible for bipeds and a fun little last jump before you can get the flag. It's grav-lifts instead of ladders, right? And it does look better. But put the teleporters inside a building-like thing to prevent turret/sniper whores from picking off anyone who attempts to get the flag.

We'll test grav lifts, it it really lags, I put the ladders back..
And no sniping will be possible anymore form the atv base to the 2 bases.. cause there is now a big mountain in between..

grav lifts lag more for the distance they make you travel.
If you were to make a series of small grav lifts it wouldnt lag too bad, but im pretty sure it would lag so either some combo of them and ladders or ladders and teleporters is probably what is going to be in final

Seriously. Even Warlock-size grav lifts lag the living fuck out of me. Hence my hatred for any map containing them.

It has nothing to do with your connections, grav lifts just sync horribly badly, since they make you move so fast.

Test this with the map too, since it was a problem with the first yoyorast:
It was possible in the first map, on CTF, for someone to stand near the level of the ground in the ladder, and someone with the flag could drop it while walking (in the direction of the ladder) and the person in the ladder could "grab" it. (It's similar to the glitch in beaver creek where you can grab the flag through the wall)

Well, the thing about it is, since you're taking grav lifts up a TUBE, there's little reason why you would lag off and go flying like in every other map. Also, the idea of grav lifts with teleporters is a great one, just have a grav lift shoot you up the tunnel, then you hit a teleporter right near the end and boom you're on the top, with no lagging off the edge. Though, it would be cooler if the screen flash was removed. Chiron gives me a headache >.<

It's not so much shooting off the lift, it's continally whizzing up and down it in such a manner that I used to get pretty nasty migraines if I did it too much...

I think it should just stay with ladders, actually.
Ladders give snipers time to aim... Unless they're busy camping :p

Yeh, I think I'll stay with the ladders afterall.. the only difrence will be the glass tube will end inside the last groud of the base with an horizontal teleporter.. this will bring you onto the roof..
