Modern Combat RECAP

So here's a recap of the major content we've done so far for Modern Combat! Hopefully you guys really enjoy our work. It's been a LONG time coming, and I can assure you, it'll have been well worth the wait by the time we're ready to release ;). We've been working hard, and secretly on many things. All in all, it should turn out to be a very unique experience for everyone.

I really hope you guys can come out of a game with dramatic stories to tell of survival, success and unbelievable moments and encounters.

Well I'm still banned from the modern combat boards, but I'll probably fire up CE for this when it comes out. How much if any of this is skinned/ingame yet?

Awesome, but uh...is there gonna be a map? (have you started it?) I think I came long after this project began.

Looks awesome, but I hope pengy has changed the receiver for the ak 47. As previously stated by warsaw, its receiver is that of an akm's.

whoops just noticed that -_-.

i just made a quick carry handle transfer from an older version and forgot to fix that >_<. the m16a2 was kinda rushed, literally took me 15 minutes...at 3 am. so i'm gunna fix those errors and get a new render up.

also there was nothing ever wrong with the ak in the first place. it has been manufactured by so many countries and in so many places. The references i had used on the first AK showed the receiver the way it was. However, i remodeled the ak and it now has a different receiver anyway because the older one was ugly.

Modern combat is for halo CE? I thought it was for the source engine?

No, no. It's for a completely new engine, and it was never for source.

What's up with the belt?

saving polies by using an alpha layer that will let you see through portions of the belt. would've been terrible waste to model that hole in.

I think we're gonna work a little more on finishing some before it goes into the skinning progress. Most of the models aren't even uvw mapped.

why do you load the ammo from the right side when the cocking lever is on the right side too :raise:?

Also, that bottom groove serves no purpose that I can figure. Why the hell doesn't the buttstock have a groove for your shoulder or a support bar?

Also, the placement of the carrying handle looks oddly placed. Suggest redesign to spread the load of the weapon when carrying.

less of a carry handle and more of a barrel change handle. the spread of the load of the weapon is accurate to a pkm's links.

Well sheesh korny, have youeven looked at the gun before? It's all accurate to what's on there, go yell at the russians not the modeller. Also, no actually it's not half-assing stuff. It's saving triangles for something you won't see, and even if you did only for a split second. You probably wouldn't even notice it ingame if you never saw renders before playing it. Also, the belt is going to have an alpha map, so it won't actually look like the bullets are going through a surface. Yar.

Edit: Actually, by looking at some pictures, it appears that the carry handle is adjustable, and can be moved to either side or straight upwards. Most of the pictures I've seen had it slanted like Snafubars though, I've only seen a few with it straight up. Makes you think there must be some sort of reason for that if just about everyone has it like that.

First 2 maps will be for CE anyway, since they're already in development for it. That's what I heard. The rest, if H2V's tools get unlocked, were going to be for H2V, I think.

Finally - someone told me - lol. I thought it was for a different game being tested in the CE engine for convenience... Looks good enough I might have to get H2V...
