Help Dedicated Server

Will i like 2 play my own kinda rules most other server is so unfair. will lets get 2 the point i read the read me file under the halo 2 game file about the dedicated server. i try type in the comand promt so many diffrent ways. ways they told me ways like h2server. C:\D..blah blah none works. and i also try open the H2Adim or H2server.exe wut ever file opens up comman promt and despered a sec l8er. So whats the line 4 command prompt 2 start. i have everthing up 2 date. what i do

Uhh...please rephrase a little more legibly. Do you have trouble setting up the server, or do you have trouble getting people to join? Your question is not exactly coherent. Anyway, welcome to the forums.

I had a problem with the CMD prompt. What i was told to do was make a copy of the CMD prompt that's located in C:\Windows\System32 and place it in your halo2 dedicated server directory. After that just open it from there using as administrator and all you have to do is type your commands directly. To start a service just type

h2server.exe -createservice -live

log off, log on and than open cmd back up from your h2server directory and open your h2admin.exe and then you'll have to do a few things.
like . well type
help live
help
help
till you get the autosignon set up and your key entered.
beware you can't play on the same comp as your dedicated server

You can avoid all of this if you just want a simple game with you being the host. Just open your h2 game, click on live , then create game. Simple as that.

Hey Medic... Finally got a post from you. nice.

Do what Blaze instructed, but please clear up some basics 1st.

- Did you install the Dedicated server program?
- What computer did it install on: Vista or Win2003?
- Do you want to play on the same machine that the server is installed? (some issues)

If you actually have installed the dedi server program on a dedicated server, than try some of the thing Blaze said and get back to us. It would be bet if you 'copied' the command prompt from windows/system32 to the folder where you installed the dedicated server. And you don't click on 'h2server.exe' or 'h2admin.exe' to run them, you open the command prompt and then type 'h2server blah blah' or h2admin blah blah'. Clear as mud?

I'm surprised I did a half way decent job describing kinda how to set up a dedicated server.

But i left out one very important detail. You also need a new Live account to set your server up on. The live account can be silver so that is free but your
server's live account will be your server's name.

Wow you all are mean. Instead of helping her lets all make fun of how she types. [making fun of everybody else]. Why treat all the new people here like crap. Yeah so what she had poor grammar, how about instead of teasing try really reading and understand. Because to me I read all those posts with ease.

Well I will admit to not understanding some of her posts here on the forum (Punctuation girl, please). But I was on Messenger with her for hours last night so she could get her dedi server running (and she did). I give her an A+ for being dedicated to the task. She gets a C- for computer skills, but hey, not everybody has them.

I apologize to you guys all for my poor grammar. Will give me some slack here I’m new and plus I’m not good with English. I do have a B in my English in my 1st semester class. I’m 17 not 12 like what someone said to me will I really don’t know if I’m going to stay or leve. specially thanks to {XF} Lowsy (sorry if I spell your name wrong) and others that helped me. Well I’m getting off the forum thing just let you guys know. I bet that most of you are happy well that’s a good thing to hear. Yea I got my server running now I just need set it up on my dads computer. Will good bye you guys won’t be seeing me any more. Also i'm not kiki, stop harassing about it!!
