hmm, It doesnt quite look right when the shoots released.
it's too smooth, If you make it Jerk the Pods a little bit to the sides, it would infinitely improve the Scene. Because at the moment it looks fake.

Recorded animations were a system Bungie used to move actors and vehicles in a uniform fashion utilizing the animations already imported into the game. It allowed dropships to follow the same path every time without having to turn it into some form of a scenery object. It had a lot of potential at the time, but it turned out to be really hard to do. So with Halo 2, Bungie remade the engine so they could do the animating for such things be done with third party things like Max/Maya.

I just noticed something that kills the illusion. I can tell that the camera is actually moving somewhat slowly, and the pods are actually pulling back to give the illusion of the camera moving fast.
When they pull back, they go through the particles they created by releasing the parachutes.

Yeah, it looked cooler when i did it without the particle effects (for the most part :(). I'll try a different way of doing it.

I've often thought about this method, but I don't script and never made a cinematic, wanted to but haven't yet lol...
Seriously though, I'm tempted to compare that to the halo 2 one, because it looks almost exactly the same as the odst drop sequence. I declare this cinematic :eek: EPIC WIN. Or the best one I've seen to date thats custom made I think.

don't know if anyone remembers, but it was a lifepod crashing into the ground, losing it's airbrakes and rolling to a halt over a few elites.
i even released the tags for it.
Come to think of it - I do remember a cinematic that had a life-pod crashing in front of a base that looked like the sidewinder ones. Don't remember it being released, though ;o

Some guy claimed that he can do it but provided no proof.
you can use already made recorded animations, like the ones that are already in the original campaign. my guess is he also found out (a bit late) he can reuse these.
kornman has said so thousands of times, the code to record those animations has been REMOVED. it's not possible.

Ah that clarifies it. So what you are saying is that you cannot make CUSTOM recorded animations but you can reuse ones already made?

yeah recorded animations cannot be made, i have tried everything, never checked the code, but ive played around with it for a few hours straight.
Though some fools think they got it to work on the halomaps forums, they refuse to show any pics or evidence so i assume there just taunting people.
That's exactly what I thought when I saw it, but apparently there was some "C editing" which doesn't make much sense to me since sapien was written in C++, and theres no such thing as a C++ decompiler. It would have to be disassebled and edited in assembly language.
the only thing i can come up with is to replicate an animations file with an external application for it to be loaded similar to one of the existing recorded ones, but i seriously doubt that being possible.
actually my friend got dropships to drop off ai and fly away, by putting an ai into it and make it follow a command list. but you need to change somethings in the vehicle and actor varient tag

So I don't know if you want to share or not, but the Mind the bump sequence: Do you just use a chief somewhere offscreen that's shaking, or are you actually attaching the camera on the chief that might be in the pod? I'm a bit bored, wanted to ask a question and I'm thinking the first. :P
I swear I did not see this part and I said "Mind the bump" to the other one when I saw the Chief in the pod. Out of all the times I've played Halo 2, I did not know what Cortana said that time, so I turned on Subtitles, and that's what she did.Quote:

I'd wager that their planning on making a H2 CE campaign, so yes.
They're ripped? Well then pardon my French but wouldn't ripping everything make playing the re-created game just like playing the actual thing but on an inferior engine? I know that that is the point but it doesn't sound like much fun since halo 2 < halo 1 anyways. Now, if your going to make your own scenarios, vehicles, weapons etc, and just use a ripped bsp, models, and textures then I think it might be something I'd download.

If you aren't making an exact replica then you should make the turret pull down alil when the grunt grabs it to pull himself up.
The turret is a separate entity, and therefore shouldn't be animated in the same scene. I've done that already though.
