...And We Have Liftoff

In October 2007, we made the decision to expand the existing community at H2Vista.net. In fall 2006, we launched the website in anticipation of the future modding community of the upcoming Games for Windows Live title, Halo 2 Vista. With the colossal failure the game turned out to be, the community we all built and were a part of was beginning to fade away. It was clear that if we didn't do anything about it, it would soon diminish into nothing. So we did.

Several months, long nights, and motivational speeches later, we have Modacity. With Modacity, we hope open the door for the discussion and development of content for several games and engines. Most of today's popular games on the popular engines of Blam!, Source, Unreal (full section coming soon...), and CryEngine are supported.

In addition to a revamp of the forums, we also have also revamped the subsections of the website. All members now have the freedom to create their own personal blog. Everyone is entitled to one blog with a custom URL. Members may use the blogs for anything - personal lives, map teams, or even portfolios. Several themes are pre-installed for members to choose from, and even more themes will be installed in the future. The blogs are still a rough work in progress and are being rolled out slowly over the next week. Currently, the blogs are invite only, and users will be able to sign up in their user control panel under "Manage Blogs." The H2V wiki has disappeared from the navigation, but still remains accessible at its old URL. The Modacity Wiki is being completely reworked to be useful and manageable, unlike the prior one.

With the expansion of the website, we also have promoted several members to staff. Sections are now going to be moderated by specific mods to concentrate focus on those areas. Conscars and Phopojijo are now welcome aboard the Modacity Staff, and several other members will be promoted to section mods within the coming days.

Today, on April 1, 2008, we launch Modacity. Thanks to you, the community, this is all possible. When the Crysis forum was created, you showed and expressed that you would appreciate and use the sections we expanded to. Your suggestions of new forums, exactly as we had laid out, only helped reinforce our decision to expand. Minor changes will occur to the website over the next few days as we continue to iron out the bugs. Again, thank you for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy the new network.

If anyone has any problems logging in, CLEAR YOUR COOKIES.

First person to bitch about anything gets it in the face. vBulletin and Wordpress have done anything and everything they can to hinder my progress and generally piss me off. :downsgun:

Nice to see a change. I like that you guys are trying to expand which is good. I'm not too keen on the name as I feel it's a bit corny but the whole concept is a good idea in my opinion. Nice additions to the staff as well. I think this will go along ways in improving the community. Keep up the good work.

Because IE is broken, the last post columns do not properly line up in that browser. We'll see about getting that resolved.

Another bug is the time. That problem has to do with something inside of vB that we are looking into right now.

Also, the news listings on the homepage still won't stay collapsed when you collapse them and then refresh. Unless you are intending for it to be this way now, I for one would like to see it revert to the old style.

Yeah, you're right. I have it set to the right time zone but the posts have the incorrect time.

Also, yet another thing that you might have overlooked (or maybe you just decided to do away with, but I can't see any reason why) - the front page is missing the newest member/top poster/birthday box.

By my calculations, your like, 3 hours behind.... even if the clocks were right. Also, the green is a lie.

The database has the correct time in it. The bottom of the page displays the correct time. The Admin Control Panel displays the correct times for logs, even adjusted to our personal timezone settings. For some reason, the posts aren't displaying the correct times. We're looking into it.

Where are the themes, eh?

Most people probably aren't interested in all of the games or engines on this forum, so instead of collapsing everything, they have their own pages.

Yeah guys, we'll be rolling out tweaks, features, and additions as time goes on. We'll be listening to what people are saying about the site's ease-of-use, styles, options, etc and adding to meet a compromise of what we want and what the community wants.

I like it. Good job guys, I'll be spending even more time here now :embarrassed:.

IMO, all the source related sections should be merged, with orange box (including half life 2) being a subboard to reduce clutter on the main page.

Maybe expand the haloCE section or add a new section for "haloPC" modding? Yeah, it probably won't be that active, but I think it could still be usefull.

Yes, because this forum was...for the lack of better words...full of shit and not important for me. Now that many ppl have been banned I always complained about and UT3 is on this forum, this forum has a purpose for me again.
