I got this same problem, but it installed fine before i upgraded my laptop to 2 gigs ram (1 gig of ram was not enough to play with). My graphics card is a Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family, 224 MB Shared memory. Any ideas now?
Lol I like how he mentioned halo 1 ran fine on it..
Anyways, vista is a very demanding OS, and halo 2 pc is very different then halo 1 pc. Its quite demanding..
My system plays it fine on 1024x768, just click the computer button to the right to see my specs..
Integrated graphics and halo2 though, not even worth trying.
A 9800 running it shocks me, what reso and level of detail are you using? Anyways, go with a desktop for all your gaming needs.. No reason why you cant have a desktop for gaming and a laptop for your on the go tasks..
Lol here's a reason for not having 2 computers, not enough money. Besides I might want to play games on the go. Anyway, once I make enough money I'm going to buy an Asus G1 notebook, it's meant for gaming, it's got dual core 2GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, and nvidia 7700 video card, which is 512 MB dedicated graphics memory, so H2V should run fine right?
BTW in a notebook, when it says dedicated graphics memory does that mean you can switch graphics cards? Because I know on the bottom of the Asus G1, there's covers for RAM, CPU, HD, and I think video card but I'm not sure. Once I get the g1 can I mix and match all of those?![]()
sorry for double post, but go here:

Laptop variants of the described video cards are not different except for clock speeds - however if there are major hardware differences I point 'em out.
Sorry mate but even if you where able to install it, it would of run at like 4 fps. As for anyone who is having slow frame you can always go to msconfig, service, hide all windows services, and disable EVERY service and process that isn't vital for vista and then run Halo 2. Anyhow yea Laptops where NEVER meant for gaming. The ones can run games cost two or three times as much as a equivalent desktop pc.
