I thought that would help, but after unlocking a shitload of stuff and still raging at the game...no. It's not being stuck with crap guns, it's being stuck with crap players on crap maps with game mechanics that used to be good until they tweaked them for BF3. They could have just copy+pasted BC2 and added jets and all would have been good. It's just you. I totally demolish with that gun in BC2.
Never had a problem with this mechanic, even with Maintenance it takes a long enough time to start regenerating that if someone is trying to kill you they've got a good enough chance.
I like suppression.
What? Only time I've seen this is a tank with a repair crew behind it. Thanks are nothing but cannon fodder for aircraft, and only slightly harder to kill as infantry. I don't see any difference between killing tanks as infantry between BC2 and BF3. The best way is still to sneak up and C4 the bastard. or coordinate 2+ engineers to rocket together.
This part is true.
In my opinion the absolute worst parts of BF3 right now are the spawning system, getting killed out of an aircraft with a Stinger/IGLA without the aircraft exploding, and lack of post-game chat.
My beef with the spawning system is that if what you're trying to spawn on becomes unavialable and you're set to auto-deploy it will spawn you at the last available spawn location. Instead it should just take you out of the auto-deploy queue and let you chose again. There are many instances where this is helpful.
Ex: You're losing an objective and have squadmates nearby but you still have the objective. You choose to spawn on the objective instead of your squadmate for whatever reason (squadmate is pinned down or something). The objective is lost, you get spawned at deployment cause it's the last place you spawned. The same could happen vice-versa, you choose to spawn on a squadmate instead of the objectve that's being taken, the squadmate is killed before you can spawn, you lose the objective before you can switch to spawn on it.

Yeah, that spawn shit is annoying. They need to go back to BC2 style. Hey, look, another mechanic/feature that was better in BC2! Who would have guessed? Fucking shit, even squads handled better in BC2 (BF3 on console vs. BC2 on console).
In my experience, aircraft are nothing but cannon-fodder for foot-soldiers and don't contribute to the game in any meaningful way. Helos are better than jets, but even then infantry just hides until it leaves or gets shot down/runs away like a pussy after taking 2 points of damage. Point B getting whacked by a Cobra? Big fucking deal, just hunker down under a rock until it decides that spraying down the dirt and getting no points isn't fun.
Suppression is a stupid artificial add-in that basically gives you free points for being a terrible shot. If I'm sitting next to a rock and I hear bullets zinging over my head, I'm already under pressure and am officially "suppressed." You don't need to throw in this bogus haze clouding my screen and you don't need to give that faggot points for not being able to hit me despite the fact that he has a 3.4x scope on his goddamn machine gun and he got the drop on me. It's asinine.
As for the tanks: I hit it in the back THREE times. THREE. No engineer is outside fixing shit. That tank should be fucking dead. DEAD. None of this "Vehicle Disabled +100" bullshit; it should be exploded and permanently out of commission.
Also, Rush is fun unless you are defender and lose your starting point. Then it becomes bogus and is almost impossible to defend. That could be a unique situation to consoles though.
And before you say it (excepting the thing about Rush), no, this shit isn't fixed on PC. The same bullshit mechanics still exist.
is there some secret to getting knife kills? i use middle click for melee, and ive had all sorts of results ranging from lunging 30 feet at a guy to swinging at him and doing damage, but not killing him (which is cool, no more rambo knife), to just pulling the fucking knife out and getting me killed because the scroll menu has so many items in it
At least your scroll wheel works.
I use space-bar (because fuck it, you use Jump more often so it makes sense to put it on "E" and make use "X"). Hold it to whip your knife out and go Rambo, or simply tap it from 2 feet to get a knife kill.
hmm... i lose on average 4 to 5 knife kills per game because the knife just doesnt do anything when i sneak up on people. i should record some footage so i can see wtf im doing wrong, because its frustrating to lose nice knife kills like that
E: also warsaw, if youre ever in the market for a new mouse, cyborg rat 5. it is, by far, the best piece of gaming hardware i have ever had the pleasure of using.

It's just lag, then. BFBC2 did the same shit with knife kills and, yes, it's quite irritating.
Believe it or not, I am in the market for a new mouse. The wheel on my Razer Plasma Diamondback LE is finally beginning to wear out. I've looked at the R.A.T. series, but I can't get into the looks. I'm trying to build sleek black boxes with subtle white illumination. That rules out just about any mouse save for the Razer Lachesis, Mamba, and this one other mouse whose name I can't be assed to go look up right now. I already have the Logitech Slim Illuminated Keyboard ($70!), so it's too late to turn back.
You know what really sucks in this game?
Team mates driving buggies at you and jumping out so it kills you.
