Thread: Fatal error installing redists\H2V-licr

    Angry Fatal error installing redists\H2V-licr

I'm new here just so everyone knows. I come from Halomods.

Anyway I just got H2V after waiting weeks and weeks for school to end (since I couldn't get H2V until I raised my grades to all A's), and when I tried to install it I got an error.

    It said: Fatal error installing:
    redists\H2V-licr.msi

Someone else on the halomods forums said they had the same exact problem, and just gave up. I won't, I'm determined to play halo 2 since I don't have an xbox and have waited for a port of halo 2 to the pc for years.

So does anyone know how to fix this? I installed vista on a clean partition and I'm not using a program to run halo 2 on XP or anything.

My specs are: 1.6 ghz centrino duo processor, 1 gb RAM, and a 128 MB intel 945GM graphics card.

So halo 2 should install fine, but for whatever dumb reason it doesn't. BTW I've exchanged one disk already, and the 2nd one has the same error. When I try to run the MSI program on the disk manually, it says one of the programs it needs to continue with installation had an error.

Anybody know how to fix this, since no one at halomods did?

Lol, that graphics card is integrated so it shouldn't run fine.

Grr... I know I hate integrated gfx cards... but it should still be ok. I mean halo 1 works fine.

If this is the reason halo won't install, is there ANY way at all to change graphics cards in a notebook!?!?! The stupid curse of a permanent graphics card has plagued me forever. When I bought the notebook a 128 MB gfx card seemed good, now games (especially retarded, high-demanding ones like halo 2) need more power. WTF!

Is there a way to change the graphics card in my notebook? Or just to install halo 2, do I have to buy another freakin computer?!

Well, I am sorry but you will have no lucky changing the cards in a laptop. They are attached to the motherboard, on 95% of computers. When you buy a laptop from a few companies one of the options is you want an offboard Videocard.

Fuck... so the reason this doesn't install is my card?

And which companies support the offboard graphics cards?

Laptops aren't really ment for gaming.

I still like em. You can take them everywhere, and you can't, say, take your desktop computer into the crapper with you just to browse.

If my laptop (1.6ghz Core 2 Duo, 2gigs ram, GeForce Go 7600) can't play h2v @ 640x480 low settings no AA and get hardly 15 fps, your laptop will most certainly not run it well at all.

Holy crap. Nevermind, I'd better start saving up for a better laptop. And yes I'm getting a laptop, no doubt about it-I do a lot of multimedia tasks like video editing that I need a laptop for.
