Sorry if the thread title is too startling for the context. Now, I'm not a hardcore gamer, and I've never claimed to be. But today I was reading a webcomic I've frequented for many years, and saw something that made even me cringe. Ladies and gentlemen:

Because I'm a deep lover of sociology, I wanted to know what the more experienced and loving gamers of the world think about this. Some say they feel exploited. Some say they feel things like this further the industry. I neglected to include a poll, because I think this is something that can't be adaquetly expressed through a few choice options.
