beach tutorial

i am trying to make a beach map kind of like fragment or the silent cartographer but i cant make it look right. is there a tutorial around?

I think it has something to do with making an alpha map of the shoreline. Check through the tags for Death Island, thats where I remember seeing it.

place 2 planes that are quite close on top of each other but dont overlap a big one on the bottom that is the water, then 1 thats just above, thats very close that is like 180 units wide that you place all around the beach
