sorry for this but...

I think everyone has a right to complain.
By "Mainstream Support" I think they might mean just basic technical support, like how they tell you to call some 800 number if it breaks your computer or something, as well as what jcap said.
No matter the case, Hired Gun's been long disbanded, and Bungie's busy with Reach and whatever the hell their next project is. There's no more support in the form of patches and tweaks, unless Microsoft Game Studios gets assigned to is somehow, which I doubt considering that instead of advertising Halo 2 Vista when they shut down XBO Live, they told everyone to play Reach instead.
I don't take credit in finding that.
Generally, they don't have specific definitions of the Mainstream support they will provide for different products, but I'm sure some can be translated into gaming support =D
It's quite sad, 5 years, and it was only supported in the 1st year.
Mainstream Support
Mainstream Support is the first phase of the product support lifecycle.
At the supported service pack level, Mainstream Support includes:
- Incident support (no-charge incident support, paid incident support, support charged on an hourly basis, support for warranty claims)
- Security update support
- The ability to request non-security hotfixes
Don't forget Halo 1 PC/CE was abandoned, but that was until someone had the initiative and good luck on his side,
sawnose actually volunteered to provide security updates, no matter how small they are, a game that had no developers working on it.

1.08 was released within this mainstream support, however, 1.09 was released a month after =O
Source of information is right here.

There another thing I wonder, 1year after Halo 1 PC's support has been ended, can Microsoft release the source code?
